Car wouldn't start unless gas pedal was tapped(it is really cold out) and goose/whale noises at idle and during slight acceleration. Sounds to me like the CCV and possibly fuel pump have gone KAPUT. Question is what do you think.

Another comparison to the sound I've heard is chewbacca. If it's close to that, then it's the ccv itself.

Haha it does sound like a dying chewbacca. Have the car going to an Indy (recommended by tkundhi) on Friday for the CCV Cold Weather Kit.

My battery cover seems to be missing a couple of fasteners that should secure it to the floor:

What parts are those in this diagram (assuming I've got the right diagram)? http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...43&hg=51&fg=65 They're also missing from the trunk tray on the left. I'm guessing they're the "locking button", but I'm not sure. I'm assuming they're supposed to be there. :-)
