Lots of weird noises. All normal. For the most part.. :)

What's the upper limit of safe temps on the coolant?
I'm at autocross idling in a big line of cars and hitting 100 degrees pretty quick.
The burden of information now that I found the hidden OBC functions lol
100'c? Mine gets up to 98-99 ish in traffic sometimes. It doesn't go above that. Turn your ac on to activate the secondary fan and increase engine rpms

Does anyone have any recs on vanos seals replacement? I heard that the anti-rattle kit is not nessc. If you don't have the rattle yet? I'm at 88k

The entire system was replaced in December, and included a Stewart pump upgrade.
I only got 100+ when sitting in the exhaust of the car in front of me. We have a better grid set up in the afternoon and it's idling around 98.
I also go it to hit 101 at the very end of my lap. As soon as I backed off heading back to grid it normal out.
Next question: my dad broke the clown nose off. We can't seem to find a part number on real OEM for it.
Is it possible to buy that?
Not that I ever found. Mine is super glued back on :)
Yea he's not gunna wanna dish out for a full mirror just for the clown nose.
Thx though!
I don't think they sell just the clownnose.
Mirrors go for $50 and up.
Head to a junk yard and see what you can find

I'm going to be ordering a rebuilt vanos from Dr. Vanos shortly and will be doing the VCG while I'm in there. Dr. Vanos comes with the Vanos gasket and the oil line crush washers. I think that's everything needed for that part of the job.
For the valve cover gasket, I'll order this kit from FCP Euro. The steel washers are probably unnecessary, but everything else in the kit looks good.
Beisan's DIY also mentions some easily breakable or loseable parts that you may want to have on hand just in case, the engine cover nut cap, the fan shroud clip, the vanos piston bolt, and the engine cover pads (Part #11-12-1-730-352 - FCP Euro doesn't have them).
Apart from some RTV sealant (high temperature I presume), is there anything else I need or may want for the job?
If you've been seeing camshaft sensor codes, now is the time to replace the sensors... Spark plugs would be easy to throw in as well. Otherwise you look all set.
Spark plugs for sure.

Thanks guys. The only code I've got is related to the fuel level sender. Previous owner did the spark plugs somewhere between 56,000 miles and 75,000 miles. The car currently has 78,000 miles. How many miles do the plugs last?
Question re: CCV - is it a bad idea to do this in a concrete driveway ? I don't want to leave oil spills everywhere, knowing that this equipment circulates oil a lot.
Nah, it should be fine. You might leak a little mayo if you have some built up. But you can probably catch it with a rag. What you miss will just get on the plastic skid cover thing. Good luck! Just did it a week or two ago - not as bad as people make it out to be, as long as you don't have large hands...

I have a lot of cardboard - gonna use that instead.
Another question:
Car is going in storage for 6 weeks in 2 weeks. I'm due for an oil change. Do I do it prior to storage or when I come back ?
Eh probably doesn't matter but why not change it pre sitting there so all the gunk comes out and doesn't just pool up.
Goin' HAM mobile
That's what I would do
Goin' HAM mobile
Sounds like a good plan, I'll probably do that then.
My ZHP is back on the road and the new AFE intake sounds awesome but I've noticed a decrease in fuel economy. Any idea what this is attributable to?
