BP, glad you're going the bilstein route. the PSS are almost half the price of the PSS10; i haven't driven the PSS10 but i am very pleased with the damping in the PSS kit, it is matched to the spring rates and feels excellent. now, you can obviously get the PSS10 to feel the same, but then crank up the damping for track use - but it is worth the extra dough?

i think you're still going to need a fairly respectable right height and at least -2.0º camber in the rear with 18x8.5" ET35 wheels and the 255-width PSS. i ran my 135Ms with 255-width PSS and 10mm spacers (so effectively ET40), with -0.75º camber and it rubbed occasionally. more negative camber would help. are you fenders rolled?

you're going to love this suspension!! when do you pick it up?

From what I have found with Bilstein in my experience of running them on 4 vehicles. 2013 Cummins Ram, 2006 Duramax, 1997 M3 (spring and shock setup), 2000 E46 323iA (PSS).

I never had to warranty the truck suspension one single time and it was flawless and they rode great. Now for the cars I blew out one strut in the 97 M3 to where it would just collapse under its own weight when removed before sending it out and my PSS fronts had to be warrantied twice for both struts in the front and one rear shock in the year and a half I had it.

That being said I would avoid Bilstein applications for cars personally. I know they have a ton of racing history but I would not recommend them for a street car. All of the setups I have used with Koni shocks have ridden better, had a wider range of dampening adjust-ability and never had a single issue with them blowing on the 3 cars I have now ran them on.

From my own personal knowledge, the PSS and the PSS10 set on 3 are about the same ride wise. My wife loved the ride of the PSS, so she got my PSS on her ZHP and I picked up the 10's for my 323ci that sees track duty.

The only issue I have at the moment is the offset of the wheel. I've run 255/40-17's in the back before (pretty much same diameter as 255/35-18) with ET40 offset wheels with no issue. It's that last few mm of wheel offset that killed me, unfortunately. Rear fenders are rolled. I believe my camber is already at around 2 - my buddy who last did the alignment said he set it there so I get a good mix of tread life and fitment.

I placed the order with overnight shipping this morning... but then got a call as I was typing this up stating that they don't have it in stock and that Bilstein needs to send it directly... I was very unhappy about this, but at this point I'm fighting a losing battle. I will not have a usable ZHP by this weekend, and I'm just gonna have to get over that...

So, while I had him on the phone, I applied my $100-off loyalty discount to the order since I forgot to do it at checkout, as well as lowered the shipping method so I could save money on shipping and taxes. Hopefully I'll have it before next weekend...

Sorry to hear you had issues. The only 2 failures amongst the 8 Bilstein shocks I've had in my driving life (2 cars) were both on the same car, at high mileage, which was regularly driven on some of the worst roads in the area - imagine horrible speedbumps on the highway and countless potholes that I try to dodge but fail to do successfully rather frequently ("if it's not one pothole it's another"). Considering the shocks have lasted to well over 120-130k of roads like that, I'd say that's a darned good run. Let's not forget that they were replaced for free. I have no complaints about Bilstein's quality of product - my only gripe right now is how stiff my car is with the spring and shock combo I have - Bilstein Sport with H&R Race springs.

WOW, my brain was telling me long but it was actually low.

I had H&R Race springs on the M3 and they weren't super dumped with the PSS on the e46. I would say it was lowered an inch and a half to two inches MAX
