I have a bunch of spare coils you can have. Come by my house and grab them. Feel free to use my vice for the vanos job. I have done it 4 times and can do it in my sleep.

Wow, you're like my E46 god. I didn't even know you hang out here. Happy holidays Matt! I finally got rid of the old car btw, reinforced and manual swapped the new one. You haven't seen it yet! I'll have to put my new seats in before I reveal it to you, I'll fast track that project. I'll stop by some time in the new year. I need to do a rack swap and oil change ASAP. Diff bushings, DISA and VANOS are all in the mail on the way.
Can't wait to show you the new ride. I'll take you up on your offer on the vice as I was going to buy a new one otherwise. I think this'll be my fourth time too: the 328, the last 330, my friends z4, my friends ZHP motor that had bad compression...so this'll be my fifth. How's your wagon coming along?
I am everywhere ;)
Wagon is running great. Got the mtech front bumper on and the engine in, then got a bad head injury and have been in pretty serious pain for a few weeks. It’s getting better tho. Should have the new tune on the wagon and the rest of the mtech on soon.
Come by the house anytime. I’m laid up and not going anywhere
Well we’re one and two. Today I woke up in agonizing pain. I went to work only to be in tears by the final turn. I walked in to say I was taking the day off. Easily most painful day since my accident. I’ll come out and say hi soon though. The car is so pretty and want to see the wagon. Make sure to take care of yourself
Can anyone tell me the differences between the earlier/later manual transmissions? My car was built 3/4/2003. Accordingly RealOEM, etc:
It seems that GS6-37BZ - THEB was used from 3/2/2003 until 6/18/2003, while GS6-37BZ - THEG was used after 6/18/2003. Does anyone know what the differenced between the THEB and the THEG are?Code:
6 speed gearbox GS6-37BZ - THEB 1 03/2003 23007523981 ENDED
6 speed gearbox GS6-37BZ - TBEZ 1 ??/???? 23007562725 ENDED

Is there a preferred brand for hood / trunk struts (51238202688 / 51248254281, respectively)?
FCP Euro sells Stabilus. I would think that’s a good brand (made in Germany). Otherwise they would not offer lifetime replacement on them.
I recommend Stabilus, too. I once tried Uro for trunk strut and thought it was going to rip my trunk off the hinges. The opening force was too violent. After 2 openings I removed them and chucked them into the trash, went strut less until the Stabilus arrived.
Stabilus is the manufacturer of the original ones.

Looks like TJEP goes in N52 equipped E60s and E90s. Hmmm....Quote:

GL-4 Red Line 75W90 is the preferred differential gear oil, over GL5, correct?
D4ATF for what? I thought common use was that was for power steering, MTL for the transmission, and 75W90 GL-4 for differential
Red Line D4 ATF
Our most versatile ATF, use where Dexron III®, Dexron II®, Mercon® and Mercon V® fluids are recommended, for use in automatic, manual transmissions and power steering
Popular applications: Toyota Type T-III and T-IV, Honda ATF-Z1, Nissan Matic D, J & K, Diamond SP-II, SP-III, Mazda ATF M-V, most BMW and Audi/VW automatic transmissions
Also used with manual transmissions and transaxles like T-5, T-45, T-56 and late-model BMW, provides a GL-4 level of gear protection
Excellent cold weather operation
Which 75W-90, though? TheGL-4 Red Line 75W90 or the GL5?
For those that have replaced their sway bars, any specific lubricant you used on the new bushings?
Thanks!
New question: I cannot find my slim set of wrenches so I can't really tighten the end links down - I'll likely have my mechanic do it since I'm having him take a look at some other things. My question is can I drive on loose end links, or will that wreck the threads/other parts?
EDIT: I just left the end links off.
New question: is there a separate part number for the AC compressor pulley?
Does anyone recommend a certain aftermarket black grill for the E46 facelift coupe
My auto lights come on when driving directly into sunrise. Anyone else have the same experience? They come on so randomly
I'm doing the differential and transmission fluids today - is there a crush washer for the differential? On realoem.com it shows it as a drain plug (#5, 33117525064) with a crush washer (#6), but no part is given for #6. On ECS it lists the washer as 07119963355.

Googling the drain plug shows a washer built into the plug (?):

Also, what is the fill plug part number? From videos it seems to be the same plug. So do I need crush washers?
And same goes for the transmission plugs, do I need to replace the whole plug or can I just reuse them and replace the o-ring? I found the manual transmission drain plug part number (23117531356), which seems to be the same part number as the fill plug?
Yeah, mine are sometimes a little funky in terms of whatever the parameters are for lights coming on in the auto setting
Yeah you should’nt have to replace the o ring. If you feel you do, you have to buy the entire plug IIRC

Yeah, you'd most likely be safe reusing it, just check if there's compression set or not.
Haha I bought a couple new plugs the first time I did this from FCP. So when I send back fluid, I send back the plugs as well
Will, that was my situation with both plugs for diff and transmission. I bought them 1 month ago, but didn't have a chance to install them. I bought them from ECS. Hopefully they are correct. I am sure mine will be very rusty on the touring.

I got the differential plugs out, they had crush washers on from my last time doing this, so I just put the plugs straight back on without new crush washers. I might replace the plugs next time. Replacement goes for the transmissions one as well because they seem to be stripping somehow...
I’m doing a heated seat retrofit. Does anyone know the pins needed to ground them in the grounding point? They’re the lower item in this photo.

Has anyone ever seen someone that had the sport tech fabric in the centers of the seats swapped out for an alcantara or other OEM M patterned fabric?
I know some folks here use liqui moly additives and cleaners but are these the right ones to use or should I be looking at some other stuff?

I've used both. I'd like to say they helped, but I can't say one way or the other.
When Costco used to sell Techron I'd add a bottle every oil change. I can't say it did anything either.
I've been meaning to try this oil that cleans from High Performance Lubricants (link):
Thanks fellas, think I will give it a try.
