First test reports/reviews I've come across of the DWS06:

Ordered a set of these new Continental DWS 06XL tires yesterday from Tire Rack. 225/40 fronts and 255/35 rears. Will be locally selling the four 225/40 Yokohama tires the previous owner installed. Looking forward to returning the car to OEM stagger tires. The Yokohamas are at least 70% tread remaining but they have given me pause in cold rainy conditions. Its no fun suddenly having a wagging tail when you're not looking to make the tail wag.
VERY Interested to hear your impressions
Please post an initial review when you have driven a few miles

Washburn, will do. Please note the car currently has a bastard arrangement with 225/40-18 tires on 8.5" rims in the rear so my impressions will likely be ravingly positive from correcting that aspect. As I recall, the new DWS 06XL tires were about $7 - $10 a tire cheaper than the DWS being phased out. I was surprised by that and my first thought was, what, has the new tire a cheaper construction? Then I thought it over a bit and figured there were folks seeking the older series as they were familiar with it and maybe Tire Rack's pricing algorithm was thus picking up on it having greater demand than the DWS 06XL. That's how I rationalized buying the slightly less expensive DWS 06XL tires. At any rate, I'll be glad to let you know my impressions sometime in the next week.
Thanks in advance.
Is the country of manufacture stamped on the tire anywhere?
