My old CSL reps were expensive too, 245/275 wide 19 inch. I am used to it.
If I can, I'd like to run 245's. If it is too close though, I'll do the 235's.
Well, I use Toyo Proxes T1-R - 255/35/ZR18's - 280/AA/A - all round now that spring is here. They are good tires. Grippy. I think some places sell them for around $225 each. My fenders arnt rolled and, this is on stock suspension. No rub, even with full load of passengers and full trunk coming down or going up a steep driveway in Seattle.
Dayum...square with 255's...lol.
Das alotta meat.

255 square isn't a problem though the front will look extra meaty since the wheel in front is only 8" wide.

Well, only downside with these tires is that they feel nice and soak up a lot of the harshness from the solid polyurethane FCABS and RTABS (that isnt a bad thing) but, it means the tires kind of fail as being pure performance tires. I do lots of driving long distance during the summer and don't want the car to be unbearably harsh on long drives as I wanted to keep the performance to comfort balance. But, for going around roundabouts at 50mph without tail slide, they work wonders.
Guy at tirerack told me the biggest tire I could put on an 8" rim was a 245...?

Hmmm, I could use some cushion for the solid FCABS the PO installed...
You can put a wider tire on an 8" wide rim, but your contact patch won't be much if any wider and you'll sacrifice a lot if turn in response.
