Need help installing PA Soft

What did you end up doing to get it running?

I followed anando's link to the e46f site, only I did all the steps without the scanner plugged into the car obd2. The "hardware faulty" message was only occurring because the scanner wasn't plugged in. I restarted the computer and fired up PA soft and it worked.
