Yeah, red on red works well.
@CarbonZHP those look great behind those wheels! Definitely something for me to consider.
These were my attempts at yellow, red, and Estoril Blue calipers, although the latter I definitely didn't capture well. I still think yellow looks the best out of them. Thoughts? Thanks for all the input!

I was thinking of going with yellow but wasn't too sure... After seeing some of the pictures here I am definitely going with yellow... What sort of paint to use though??

Yellow definitely
I did electric blue and liked them a lot I'm sure you can find some pics of my old Zhp somewhere on the site to see.

This is literally the only photo of it showing the calipers. Color is a bit off via Instagram

It's called safety blue rustoleum high performance enamel.

I've got the BMW Perf kit to put on which is that Yellow (is it Phoenix Yellow or the other one)? Anyway, I bought the caliper paint for the rears to match. I currently have a blue-ish silver paint on them. That way, they looked better but they don't stand out, cuz as said, our original calipers are kinda ugly IMHO (and others).
Yeah Phoenix Yellow

Thanks Seth.
John,
Your caliper paint appears to be either Oldsmobile or Pontiac engine blue. Do thin coats of paint for the calipers and apply 4-6 coats, at least a half hour drying time between coats, it's an all day affair, the result will satisfy you. Check the Brettj2a Project thread to see Ford blue engine paint on calipers, 5 coats.

For the Imolarites, what color did you paint your calipers? (Stock calipers). I love yellow, but I don't how it will look with stock calipers. I love Charlie's yellow calipers, but he has BMW Performance calipers so they look really good. I may have to photoshop if no one has any pictures. Thanks
There is no hands down winner color with imola, it sucks.
The complimentary color would be green which doesn't work (for me at least). Blue is too superman-ish. Red on red is too much red for me.
Yellow is really the only tetrad color worth trying or else go with a neutral like black or silver or anything between.

I like Phoenix Yellow against Imola Seth.... :)

I think color matching the car is always a good direction to go. Seeing as my car is silvergrau I might do that or just gloss black.

I went grey with an imola car. Couldn't decide on a color I liked and just wanted to clean it up. Pretty subtle, but better than dirty/rusty. :dunno

How mine were new
Thanks for the photoshop examples Seth. BTW all, again reconsider having those ugly stock calipers standing out. A lot of what's pictured here are the BBK ones which really look good vs. our stock ones.
I painted mine sort of a graphite metallic and I think they turned out great. Subtle, and clearly way better than they looked before!

Cool
Just dropped mine off today actually.
Those look nice and like they're made of metal. A good understated look.
I used standard ol' Rust-oleum metallic paint from Ace Hardware, painted them a year ago and they still look perfect, no chips.

Pulled off the calipers, scrubbed them with a steel brush to get all the rust and crap off, doused them with brake cleaner then hit em with a few coats of metallic. I realize the tape job is overkill, but whatev

I'm a big fan of the subtle, clean look. I want someone to look at my car and think "damn that looks really nice", but not really be able to point out why. I'm not a real flashy guy, it's all in the details... Not that I don't also like the colored (red, yellow, blue) calipers look, but I'd want it on an M3 with a big brake kit, or at least a car slightly more exotic than my 330i :)
I used HIGH TEMP paint the first time. This time I have a caliper paint kit so I match the Phoenix Yellow easier.
High temp paint doesn't really make much of a difference tbh. As long as you seal it with a high temp clear coat. I really liked the rustoleum high performance cuz it didn't need a primer.

Not using high temp paint but using a high temp clear coat doesn't make much sense to me personally. The actual paint is closer to the caliper, and the clear is on top. The paint would get hot before the clear coat...
Also, why not use high temp paint to ensure zero problems with heat? It's kind of a no-brainer. You never know when you'll be in a situation where the brakes will get hot.
I've never measured caliper temps at the track or on the street, but I would think it's always best to play it safe, no?
Sure go for it and I agree with the heat from within but if the clear holds up its not like the paint is gonna bubble from under it. I honestly don't think using high heat is necessary either paint or clear for most people but just saying you can get a lot more color options using high performance paint and high temp clear than just high temp everything.
My experience was that it was fine under spirited driving conditions.
