Looking over the headers very carefully the tubes contact in a few areas on both manifolds... not ideal.

Requested that they just let me sever the tack and clean it up a bit without voiding wty.

Grind that spot weld out before you put them on or it will break and leak. I have exact same headers I had to pull the front one off and have the hole the spot weld left behind welded. Not fun.Quote:

On a lighter note, the guy that welded it is a custom fabricator and said the headers were well made.
Also the bungs for the secondary O2 sensors aren't in an ideal spot. If you plan on keeping them, you'll need 90° elbows. Put the sensors on the headers before installing them and use OEM manifold and pipe gaskets. The ones that come within them are trash. Also if you can, leave the heat shields on the manifold gaskets.

Your thread and the resulting leak is what made me look them over so well.
I messaged them on Facebook. Showed them the issue and suggested it may cause a leak and they gave me the ok to sever the tack. ( said they would make a note on the order. ) I just used a dremmel and a metal cutting wheel and rounded it off. It's pretty well hidden so I'm not worried about finishing it out in fear of removing too much.

I've found most company's I've dealt with lately seem to respond quicker on social media than conventional correspondence. From my utilities department here in Raleigh NC to Dinan Engineering lol.
Got all the oe gaskets nuts and studs
Ordered some 90* adapters back when I got the eBay junk. So planning on using those.
Maybe this coming weekend I'll have the time to install them.

Oh! And how about this oil pan that has decided it needs to leak! Guess I should buy a baffle from vac and figure out what I'm gonna do for the OPN, since I'm gonna have it down soon....
Test fit went well. I have decided that I'm just going to have BPC here in Raleigh tune out the rear 02s and possibly cold start/sai.
The 90 degree spacers I had planned on using don't quite cut it on the rear manifold as it will hit regardless of where it is indexed. (Thought for about 20 minutes about getting crafty with it and decided against it so not to void any warranty on the bbg3 headers.)

Looks like you're getting there! If you have someone that can code out the O2 sensors and SAP, I'd go for that. It's so much less of a hassle and all the SAP is going to do is take up space and block the view of those gorgeous headers. That engine support brace is huge!

A few notes on install. These things are terrible if trying to install with factory heat shields, but not undoable.
I was able to make it work but I spent the better part of an hr on one but with 3 different wrenches I kept having to swap out for. And one nut was so inaccessible I swapped it with a non-capsulated one from our hardware stock so I could spin it down with the tip of my finger. Yeah I can tell for sure. It's pretty obvious throughout the rpm range. Most noticeable above 3k.

Co worker traded in his e46 this weekend, why is this significant?.. I inherited two new rough road package /xi plates for the struts, A generic (probably eBay ) strut brace. I'll be starting a very similar thread this weekend, on a very similar Titanium sedan that I just picked up :)
So I got the radiator from my coworker.
Called Mishimoto and they agreed to honor warranty if I tig the trans cooler port shut and modify my mounting bracket.
So that's happening.
Waiting on some packages to arrive, ebc yellow stuff. Bilstein b12 kit. And some strut mounts from ECS.
Crazy how I can get certain things from places like ECS cheaper than I can at the dealer as an employee.

I'm old, that smell doesn't bother me...I remember the days before cats... Even after it was mandatory on new cars, I bet it was a good decade before most cars on the road had cats.
Installed the Bilstein kit today. Sits pretty close to stock ride height. I can't tell that it's any lower. Maybe it will settle to be a bit lower. Rides great though. Need to get some pics when it's on the rack tomorrow.

Installed the shifter between cars today. Pretty straight forward. I unbolted the heat shield and dropped it into the exhaust and massaged my hand in from underneath, to set the selector rod after install.
When putting the knob on I realized my performance knob had come apart when I removed it from the original shifter. So I'll be epoxying that back together.
Couple of things that I noticed, the shift knob is not degrees quite the same on the shaft. And 6th gear is awkward. I'm sure I'll get used to it though.

I wonder if my motor mounts and trans mounts are to blame, that theoretically would put more angle on the selector rod between the shaft and trans, therefore causing 2 4 and 6 to be less traveled and the opposite for R 1 3 and 5.
^ that may be overthinking it
Either way I think BFI motor mounts and some poly trans mounts of some sort are in order.
