So what failed? Or did you get hit?
So...the shock tower just failed outta the blue? Damn.....never heard of that one. Did you have indication of mushrooming before this?
Strut helps to prevent this. Too late now, I know.
Glad you, or anyone else escaped injury...
zhp, that looks bad. If there is enough damage under there, this could be a total. My biggest fear, when stuff like this happens, is that there will be a lot of damage and the insurance fixes it.
Please keep us posted.
will be put back up at a later date
For whatever reason, our cars tend to be more expensive to insure. I'm thinking it has to do with the cost of repairs when accidents do occur.
In my unprofessional opinion, this looks like a total. If you see this not getting repaired to your satisfactory, be sure to take it to your favorite auto body shop (so they can shoot it and declare it dead).
Whatever happens I am determined to not leave the zhp mafia. :)
I hope they don't say it's totaled...unless thats what you want.
I don't want it to be totaled obviously. However, if the level of damage is such that it should be and they try to fix it anyway I will not be happy. I'm not going to know the extent of the damage until it's on a lift.
If it does end up being totaled, just be sure to replace it with another ZHP.
Still at about 59,000 miles. I may eventually get over 60,000.

Lance, that's a crack up. Glad you're enjoying the car.
What did you drive before this?
Better yet. Introduce yourself in the New Members section and tell us what you used to drive before this.

99500 miles. Getting ready for a maintenance overhaul.
Drove to Knoxville, TN and back to Raleigh, NC over the week end to visit wife's family. Had a blast on the curvy roads near NC/TN border mountain area.
Put 800 miles on the car and i am bummed that it now has a staggering 17k miles. :( :(
You are so ghey. I hate you.

In case you decide to try it. Did a lot of riding in a lot of places and those were the most challenging and enjoyable roads I ever rode.
Bought in August with 75k miles. I now have 84.5k miles on it and It's only December. =D
At least your having fun and driving it! Ive clocked a whopping 275 miles in almost the same amount of time.
Exactly. I have put a thousand miles on my car since getting back to San Diego with it in August.
Why?
I'm jealous. Ive been crazy busy with work, house projects, prego wife, baby rooms etc. Then when I do get free time im so into mods/maintenance I wind up under the damn thing and not in it!
My goal is to get it where I want it slowly over the winter and drive the balls off it spring and summer.
'06 CPO bought in May 09, with about 42K, now have about 49K. I work from home so that's why the low miles.
