slicktop E39 M5 is suuuhweeeeet!!
Oil change and a light bath before tomorrow’s road trip. I love how every time I drop the belly pan my garage floor ends up looking like a gravel quarry.
Yeah I get to about 50-53 mph.

"ZHP is a garbage option anyway- just some cosmetic upgrades with a different cam and diff to claw back some of the performance lost fitting those hideous and heavy wheels. Any 330 with a 3.46 diff will smoke a ZHP every time. The whole Mafia thing reeks of childish behavior." - anonymous E46 fanatic
Got a new set of tires for the trip tomorrow. The PSS' had a good, long life, but they wouldn't have made it to and/or from Ohio...
Also got an alignment. Not really all that happy with the alignment specs, but I'll fight that battle later.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that. It's a very desirable option that I think US market didn't get.
That being said, this must be the lowest optioned e39 M5 I came across.
Standard equipment is good as it is, but doesn't even have rear parking sensor and I will be missing some stuff like double glazed windows, rear sunshades.. that my Le mans blue M5 had. I will try to retrofit some stuff though. :p
True, I just said that cause I met few e39 guys in Germany who dislike this color as it is too "common" for them and I read similar comments on M5board.
For me, it can be any color but black. My top 3 picks would be Le Mans, Estoril and TiAg.
E39 M5 in TiAg with 16k miles went for $50,100 on BaT!
530i Sport in TiAg on black is a great combo.:thumbup
Thank you!
Actually... After repeated, more controlled approaches to the limit, my rev limiter is kicking in at EXACTLY 60mph. The speed dropped quickly enough when it happened initially that I thought it was only 55mph. ELCID: Have you tried a controlled approach to the limit, or is your car's rev limiter modified from the original programming (e.g., "Sharked")? Seems like a pretty big difference... I wonder if a more rapid approach to the limit affects the observed mph limit (the clutch is NOT slipping)?
On a separate note, I wire-brushed my wheel hubs and wheels, applied rust converter to the hubs, and put a very thin coat of anti-seize on all the contact areas. My 8-year old helped me. : )
Reconditioned my headlight lenses with a little help from my 2-year old--his first DIY... he has a little trouble going side to side, but he's great going up and down!
