Does this one not fit the rear diff? I haven’t looked all that closely.

No that doesn't fit the rear diff bushing. One of the pucks in there works for pulling it through though.
This is what I used from my ball joint press set:

New rear brakes (rotors, pads, sensors). All parts from FCP Euro, installed by my local indy. Total cost $370. Last time done from stealership: $639.
Very happy camper...

Washed it. Haven't driven it in months.
I see Smolck is back. Welcome :)
I’ll never have another thing done (other than recall) at a stealership. Last time I went in for my airbag recall they conducted a ‘safety check.’ They quoted me $1100 to replace 2 worn rear shocks and $900 for two Michelin Pilot Sports.
I installed two new Bilsteins and M3 USM’s myself for under $350. I also bought two Michelin PSS’s for under $400, shipped. Mounting & balancing will be another $50.
$1,900.00 at the stealership vs $800.00 DIY. No-brainer.
My biggest issue with the dealer/chain garages (aside from the obvious labor rates, and questionable suggestions) is not being able to control what parts are used. They won’t install parts I purchase and bring in, and won’t let me tell them “I want Koni instead of Sachs.”
When my parents bought their E60 a decade ago they were matched up with honestly the greatest S/A I could imagine, so our BMW dealership experience has been pretty great. He’ll let me go back to the floor and talk with the techs, and I’m 99% sure we’ve never paid retail on service. The ZHP has only been there for state and pre-track inspections, but for someone who isn’t working on their car (cough cough—my parents), we’ve had a really good experience. However if our S/A were someone *not* named Saad Mubarak, I’m sure I’d be singing a different tune.
