Colin recently failed for having one plate light out and a fog out... All depends on whose doing the inspecting.
Justin, I looks like those lights still need the bulb connection "socket" for power.
What agency does these inspections and how often? Nothing like that in CA...minus the insane emissions requirements.
In Tx, the department of public safety (dps) is in charge. They are required once per year.
In VA, it's a state program executed by most service stations, repair shops and dealers. Safety inspection every year and emissions (codes checked) every other year) though this is only for certain counties near DC. Word is there are "secret shoppers" that help ensure the inspectors are doing the job correctly. It's automated so the DMV is tied in and the updates are transmitted automatically and are needed in order to update registration. And yes we have to pay for the privileged of both!

Gesh. I guess safety inspections are good. I always get a crack up when driving through Oakland on 580 at the cars that are some how still driving on the road, but shouldn't be.
Like the countless cars here in CT that drive around with completely blown shocks and can be seen with either the front or the back bouncing around uncontrollably at every bump? :shiftyQuote:

Yes that's what I figured. Haven't had mine on for a little. I had to dremel the push pins off because the heat made them brittle. Bought some new push pins, but forgot it was off until I saw photos on tr web. Guess I'll install when I get home.Quote:

What is the average "life expectancy" of the Valve Cover Gasket on our cars?
Not sure about expectancy, but 100k or change them with your plugs is typical.
I don't think there really is a certain expectancy. They fail at various intervals. I personally treat it as a "replace when fails" item.Quote:

It was on the list of things I had from the ppi shop...ignored it since according to records it had been 20k ago, but I've been seeing a "friend" recently...the yellow oil light on shutoff...and have a strong suspicion it is leaking. Could also be the dreaded Oil Filter Housing Gasket...$6 part, 5 hours of labor.
I need to check my pulleys too...so I'll pull the airbox/fan and investigate further. I'm thinking it is the idler pulley based on what I've read, sounds like a pig squealin' at the feeding trough on cold starts under there...Quote:
