GL with the inspection. I'm pretty sure in TX you pass the inspection as long as one bulb above the license plate is working.
Edit: here you go, I was right. Only one bulb. Look at #14.

Colin recently failed for having one plate light out and a fog out... All depends on whose doing the inspecting.
Justin, I looks like those lights still need the bulb connection "socket" for power.
What agency does these inspections and how often? Nothing like that in CA...minus the insane emissions requirements.
In Tx, the department of public safety (dps) is in charge. They are required once per year.
In VA, it's a state program executed by most service stations, repair shops and dealers. Safety inspection every year and emissions (codes checked) every other year) though this is only for certain counties near DC. Word is there are "secret shoppers" that help ensure the inspectors are doing the job correctly. It's automated so the DMV is tied in and the updates are transmitted automatically and are needed in order to update registration. And yes we have to pay for the privileged of both!

Gesh. I guess safety inspections are good. I always get a crack up when driving through Oakland on 580 at the cars that are some how still driving on the road, but shouldn't be.
Like the countless cars here in CT that drive around with completely blown shocks and can be seen with either the front or the back bouncing around uncontrollably at every bump? :shifty
I swear, CT needs to do safety inspections.

Anybody ever read this before?

It's on the fuse?/relay box on the drivers side. I love the bit about using cell phones from within the vehicle!

I dunno, but Z4M doesn't have it. Looks better without IMHO. Odd that it would be necessary in one application and not the other?

i read that, but it wasn't on the ecu box. mines was a sticker on the windshield that was damn near impossible to take off.

4 and 5 are the part numbers and they are considered air ducts on the parts catalog.
I believe the Z4M radiator design is different due to the longer nose and I think that is the reason why that duct doesn't exist on that vehicle.
So does your recirculate button stay selected? Mine turns itself off. Attachment 15490

Mine turns itself off lol.
Mine stays on auto.
Strange. My other cars stayed selected. This one does sometimes, but often does not.
I just keep mine on the auto setting but I'll test it out
What is the average "life expectancy" of the Valve Cover Gasket on our cars?
Not sure about expectancy, but 100k or change them with your plugs is typical.
Preventatively I would say 75K miles would be conservative.
The friendliest forum on the planet!
Gotcha, yeah. It was on the list of things I had from the ppi shop...ignored it since according to records it had been 20k ago, but I've been seeing a "friend" recently...the yellow oil light on shutoff...and have a strong suspicion it is leaking. Need to do more diagnosis...if it is than its only been about 20k...and 3 years.
I just figured since it's not something that'll leave you stranded, it doesn't require preventative maintenance. It depends on just how anal one decides to be when it comes to preventative stuff.
Personally I just leave the preventative maintenance to things that could leave me stranded.
In your case, Daniel, you know it's a problem, so I'd get it fixed.
Oil light on shutoff is an indication of low oil. VCG will give you (in most cases) an indication of oil burning smell when idling because it drops on either the exhaust manifolds or the down pipes.

Could also be the dreaded Oil Filter Housing Gasket...$6 part, 5 hours of labor.
Yeah squealing is bad if it never goes away.
