Excited to hear about you getting into 4th gear in an autocross lol
Why did you have to cut a nut off? Which one?

It was one of the bolts on the rear axle. Looked at it wrong with the e socket and it stripped.
If this car was a DD I might not have gone to the 3.64. Right now the local autocross course I almost never shift out of 2nd. But I am pretty high rpm. Thinking this will make me shift between 2 nd and third on the local courses.
If you look at gearing charts most of the dramatic change is 1-3.
I drove mine with 3.38 160 highway miles yesterday, and I'm loving it. Hovers about 3,200 at 80 mph, so there's more"hum", but I like it. Downshifting to 5th is seamless and only necessary for rather aggressive acceleration... I think I could stay in 6th from 40 to 160 (not that I ever do that). Is it "stop and go" that's tiring you out?
I am a little bit concerned about this as well. On two tracks I frequent, I can get right up to the very top of 3rd geat before having to brake for a corner. Now I'm gonna have to shift right before braking and downshifting again. I may have to short shift now, which I don't like doing with the lack of power I have.

Ah, yeah. I had to sacrifice a small hex socket to one of those when we were pulling diffs in the junkyard. Just hammered it on and popped it off that way.
Haha yep, I'm in 6th by 45mph. That's what's annoying. My commute is a lot of stop lights and I'm just rowing gears so often. I know I'd miss that torque if I went back to the 3.07 though.
There are a couple corners/stretches like that for me, too. A short stretch where I’ll have to shift right before braking instead of just wringing out 3rd; a series of connected corners where I’m afraid I’ll have to either carry more speed in a higher gear -or- shift before I get the wheels straightened back out.
The 3.07 is geared really well in momentum sections where the ZHP really shines, but leaves me in an awkward position coming out of tight turns/hairpins where 2nd means I have to shift almost immediately and 3rd leaves me underpowered.
Since I had to cancel my track time at VIR this weekend (thanks a lot asshole who hit my car!) I’ll have to wait until November to assess it again when I hopefully attend the Porsche Club’s HPDE. If I do a diff change it’ll be a winter project.
Stealership was a bust. No go on the axle bolt.
Tried the junkyard but all automatic cars bolt is longer.
Not going to race with only 5/6 bolts in. Not worth the chance. Am driving it around though......
Damn I wish I read this earlier. I'm pretty sure I have a couple of spare axle bolts...
