Don't take my word for it. Do your own research and you'll see that most of it agrees with what I said. There are always the outliers that think they can clean the MAFs but in reality, you don't see those MAFs lasting much longer.
Another lesson to be learned: Do not buy the cheapo crap MAF units, the ones that cost less than $250-300. Any time I saw a post where someone used one, they had issues again shortly after. So far I believe only the OE unit and the OEM VDO unit are good to use.
IF there is any benefit to be had, it is temporary, at best. I've heard from numerous people that are very familiar with BMW repair (they are mechanics, after all) that attempts to clean the MAFs usually end up fruitless, and in some cases, can make the problem(s) worse.
