"ZHP is a garbage option anyway- just some cosmetic upgrades with a different cam and diff to claw back some of the performance lost fitting those hideous and heavy wheels. Any 330 with a 3.46 diff will smoke a ZHP every time. The whole Mafia thing reeks of childish behavior." - an e46fanatic
Thanks, Charlie! My M3 has all its eyes now! BP is also more reliable than USPS.
So, visited my car today. The shop where it is has been slammed with (paying) customers. The young guy ("EB") who works on all my cars gave me a SITREP today and since I had off to take The Beast (my 7yo daughter) to her pediatrician today for her annual checkup, I figured it was a good time to have her visit, The Car With No Eyes. EB had the car up on a lift and poked, prodded and banged on stuff to find more busted / need to replace / good idea to replace gear...
The good news:
- The parts I have ordered have been spot on based on casual observation and poring over the photos like an over-caffeinated imagery analyst. To date, I have over-ordered:
- AC drying unit & lines
- Brake cooling ducts and snorkel
- Passenger side porkchop
- No codes!
- Bushings and rubber bits look and feel good
- No leaks from the stock suspension (allows me to delay purchase, hopefully)
The bad news, he added some parts that I need and should get:
- Sway bar end links (already sourced from cakM3 - Thanks, Charlie!)
- Suggested to replace all pre and post cat O2 sensors
- Hood latch cable (forgot that)
The only outstanding parts that I still need to get:
- Cooling system refresh kit
- New F&R Brakes
- Refinish the wheels
- New meats (Mich PSS)
- Battery
- Left tail light bulb holder
- Plugs and misc filters
- Strut brace
- Hood & Bumper cover (if anyone has a line on these OE bits, please let me know)
- Waiting for my mirror to come back from radar-mirror.com for its repair
The Beast followed me in the shop, since she only saw photos of the car when she named it, The Car With No Eyes (TCWNE would be a cool custom license plate). She likes it, but questioned why Daddy has three cars. "Because Daddy has problems." Her confusion turned to excitement when the owner's Dad was in the shop and told her that it will likely be her car when she gets older. A very shady grin came across her face upon hearing that... 10 years from now, I will still hope to have my M3 and it would be pretty damn cool for her to take her road test in an almost 25 year old M3.
:headbang
Here it is. Still crashed-looking but there is a bright light at the end of the tunnel. Look, the Roundel isn't even cracked! For sentimental reasons, I may leave the original Roundel installed on the new hood...

Very cool! Sounds like you're getting attached to it quickly.
Can you ask EB how easy it is and what exactly needs to be removed to get to the aux fan? I can get the bumper off and figured the kevlar bar and fan protector at a minimum.
Wow that's a lot of stuff. Good luck.

You must really be chomping at the bit to get started on it. Looking at that and knowing I have a pile of parts would drive me crazy....
Thanks. It is a lot of stuff. Sitting with EB, we discussed the amount of stuff. The rationale is this: If I bought 100k mile M3 without crash damage, much of the stuff would have to done anyway (e.g.: Cooling, O2 sensors, oil gaskets/seals, suspension bits, tires) so I get the benefit of being forced to replace stuff because it's, well, broken. :-)
I am but I am not. Weird. Lots of parts and slow (but steady) progress. I am not in a hurry to get it done. No way I want to have this car road worthy during the winter. I am not buy yet another set of snows. LOL!
Any updates?

Take your time Ray. I know you're still getting everything so when you do start you will be all set :thumbsup Looking forward to see progress being made when you start on this. It will be nice to see your ///M in person when you get everything sorted out :)
Not yet. Waiting for the last bits to get here. EB and I will be tearing into it starting the week of 22 Feb. I think at that point I will only be missing the hood and bumper cover. Been cold, a little sick and too busy to futz around with it.
Thanks, dude. Those end links will come in handy, as will the fogs. :-)
Oh Ya!! [emoji106]
SG M3 Part out.

Thanks, Gary! I think I located a hood. :-)
Got it. Fair price and will try to pick up this week. Thanks again, Gary. Now, still looking for an OEM bumper cover...
Yes Yes Ofcourse.

Not yet, grasshopper. Though, the thought did cross my mind. Priorities... Oh, and budget.
Reasons.
I hope you find happiness, Botond. I will miss you.
Damage is super light, too. Nice grab!
I forgive you Ray :p
Since we just broke up, I don't think I need to be civil on account of your sensitivity but I find it abhorrent that you take out your anger on our mutual friend, Charlie. And since you introduced us, I will always be thankful to you for that.
So, if you are mad because I skipped the potential of having an Imola interior for my M3, my work on this project follows certain priorities according to inspection, roadworthiness, safety and reliability. Your OCD on a scale of 1 to 10 is maxed out at 11 - You have Spinal Tap-level OCD and I don't see an immediate need to change a perfectly serviceable interior to satisfy some weird fetish you have for interiors other than black when such a change fails to address my immediate budget and list of priorities.
XO
Edit: I do admit than an Imola Red interior would look DEAD SEXY in the car...
Not only that, Charlie, but you two met my kid. Mini me. My beautiful 7.5 yo daughter. The Beast (tm).
Yes and she's a hoot!
Last part ordered. Found a bumper cover. A little cleanup and paint it will be just perfect.
Charlie and I texted back and forth this evening and I told him that I am proud of this fact: All but two parts (AC condenser & Charlie's SGT adj end links) are OEM BMW M3 parts.
Right now, it is parked next to my 03 ZSP, in the coveted Lift #3 position at the shop.
That she is, Charlie. Thanks!
And in her honor, I think a custom tag, "TCWNE" (The Car With No Eyes) would be perfect.
