What did you do for your ZHP/BMW today?

Finished up the front bumper....turned out...meh!

Paint coat 1 (followed up by a sanding with 800 grit sandpaper to smooth it out.)

I can't put it on because I broke off all the bumper clips. sigh...... so I have to wait till tomorrow before I can get em from the dealership. Then I can take some outdoor pics in the sun

I could not locate the DIY for A Pillars....

Did a bunch of stuff this weekend. Didn't finish though. Got:

oil/filter - 0w40 m1
mtx oil redline MTL
diff oil redline 75w90
fuel filter
CDV deleted

started rear brakes - need pads & rotors.

Everything was surprisingly straight forward. Doing most of this as preventative measures as my car is new to me with ~56k on it and I didn't have a detailed history. Everything is pretty well laid out and easy to get to. Had a couple of hangups, one being the fuel filter. The splash guard has some awkwardly placed screws... and then of course I spilled gas everywhere. I ran the car dry but that stuff gushes out! Even the filter itself holds a surprising amount. Replaced the 3 hose clamps while I was there. The rubber hose is probably the worst part. Those things just do not want to come off the filter tubes. The cold does not help that I am sure.

Started brakes but ran out of time and, you know, had to watch some playoffs today (go bmore ;) Rear rotor did not want to come off. Resorted to thwacking it real hard with a hammer. Worked like a charm! So my car is up on stands still. Hopefully I can finish tomorrow. I found the source of my slow leak in right rear tire - nail in it. Gotta take that somewhere to get patched in the AM. Car should be feeling fresh by Tuesday!

Up next in a few weeks or so - VCG, vanos, and plugs...

ordered a new set of rear tires from tire rack..using the link of course ... cause I picked up a screw in one right on the edge of the sidewall where they can't do a good repair :( .. the shame is plenty of life left ...

Hey Bullfrog, are you making a DIY for that bumper you are working on? I too have a jet black sedan with a broken beat and scarred bumper that needs replacing.

I washed my car on what was probably the coldest day ever this winter. So cold that the drips of water coming off my car after I washed it were freezing on the ground within three or four minutes.

The icing on the cake: it started raining about six hours later.
