Testing out these cheap e36m3 style mirrors today. Significantly lighter than stock & better aerodynamics, but not sure how I feel about the looks. Will likely paint them dog dick red to match, but need to be sure I like them before putting that kind of effort in.

I'm going to be up front: they're not my cup of tea, although I can appreciate the lighter weight and smaller profile. They look a touch too aftermarket, but that may be because they're black rather than red. But I'm also the odd man out because I actually enjoy the looks of the gargantuan square mirrors of our coupes with the little nubbins on the top.
+1 to the above. I think the narrower profile just makes the proportions look a bit off to me, along with the cutout for the supports (although aero is improved with that)
Personally I've never liked those, even on the E36 M3.

I guess I'm the only one who thinks that it looks kinda good? The only thing I don't like is how it angles up so steeply, but I think I would dig it once it was dog dick red.
So guys....I kind of added something to E46 life. I'll leave it like this for now. Took delivery of it yesterday, detailed the interior and today clayed the exterior and sealed it up!

That's some wild body mods on the Kia Rio.
Thanks for the feedback, guys!
Alright I agree 100%. Love our stock mirrors. Don't know why.
Yeah something about them doesn't flow well with the car to me, but e46 M3 mirrors don't either. Something about the facelift coupe makes the square mirrors look better.
The actual e36 m3 mirrors definitely look better than these, but were still too racey for a sports sedan.
Lol I need to repaint the mirror caps on my stockers so I may go ahead and paint these anyway just to see. Was hoping for a lightweight alternative to stock that was somewhat unique.
DING DING DING!

It's the ZHP of the E90D. So far it's been great. It reminds me much more of my old ZHP with the sedan rigidity for quicker turn-in compared to my E46M coupe. It's also nice to have 425 ft-lbs of torque to make any surprise rolling acceleration passes.
lmao I saw the pic, googled Tesla Model 3 mirror, saw that it didn't match, and went on about my day
Trevor is either going zero emissions electric or rolling coal with a tuned diesel sedan. There is no in between.
I love my ZHP, but I also really like the lines and the power of my E92 too....... They're both great cars
I was never a huge fan of the E9x platform for some reason, but the M-sport LCI really improved the look and I really do adore it. The rear bumper still looks like the designers got 90% of the way done and then took their lunch break.
I agree with you there! The rear diffuser is dark grey metallic. It should have been black to match the shadow line. But with current design black might have looked too stark due to lack of additional aero styling. Maybe I can plastidip it black just to see....or better yet just photoshop. LMAO.
The E90 320si is probably the only BMW newer than the E46 that, as BMWCurves would say, "makes me feel things down there."
I did mean 320si, a special homologation model. It's really the last no-nonsense driver focused 3 that puts handling over power with a special high-revving NA 4 pot built in Hams Hall. I mean just look at that carbon fiber valve cover:

And it even ticks the "crippling design flaw from factory" box with its cracking cylinder liners so it's a true BMW.
This happened the other day...

BMW, you really know how to ruin a thing.
Hope to have the red one back on the road before years end. Needs a power steering refresh.

Winter tires on in anticipation of Chicago’s winter starting any day. Of course it’s going to be 45F+ for the next two weeks now

Taking some roads to explore what this car's advantage are and what things I need to watch for.
In the end it feels closer to my old ZHP than my M but......with a FAR more robust push when I hit the go pedal. Being used to a NA engine, the corner you see is what I was riding on back to back to back which usually takes a combo of 2nd and 3rd gear with any E46 including an M. But the car below, it got upset in 2nd because it wants to put over 400ftlbs down almost instantly which isn't good for keeping a smooth line. Third would pull me out of apex at a low enough RPM that when I throttled, boost could build slow enough to smoothly transition torque to the ground and within a few hundred RPMs, I'd be at max power moving far too quick for the next turn. Good thing BMWs have decent stock brakes. LOL

You dare blaspheme the good E46 ///M name?

Also, nice car and I'm glad you're enjoying it and I am very envious of that torque
LOL, the S54 will remain in the hall of fame forever. I don’t think this M57 will. But it will be remembered fondly by the owners and the believers just like our ZHP M54! And what a great honor it has been to be part of the ZHP story for 8 years of my life. I’ll never forget! And I’ll never forget you Will. LOL The ZHP lead me to meet you personally and develop a friendship even though you never got to see mine!
You're in Canada right? I guess you could just import an E46 330Cd MSport with the M57 and then you'd basically have a diesel ZHP coupe.
Yup we can import a lot! I see some interesting cars every now and then on the roads here. I’ve decided to keep my options open with other vehicles to experience more. Being a car enthusiast to me is not blocking myself to any one car. My best friend kind of talked to me about that after he’s gone through so many various cars over the last years. He’s made mistakes and has had his wins. I want to “try” to follow what he has got to experience. I’m not sure how successful I will be as I am much more long term than him. But you never know. This diesel was a step out of my comfort zone. [emoji51]
I knew I should have hit cancel on my last post. [emoji23]
I also know there are cars that are nice to borrow and give back to the owner vs cars that you want to own. My friends R8 V10 is the “borrow” category. And I’m glad I have access to it but can give it back at an opportune time, when it works exactly the same as I drove away with it. [emoji51][emoji2958]
Well you know what car is PERFECT to import, own and NOT borrow?

Ms....LOL I dislike the amount of attention they require to be happy. I have realized my happiness is not in the letter M...but other letters. haha
C...for Camry.
M

It has been a while since I’ve posted. Still in love with this thing. Happy Thanksgiving!
