Upgraded the DISA using the GAS kit, changed pulleys (just tensioner and idler, AC tensioner was fine!), changed belts, replaced RR midrange speaker (fried). The car drives much better with the new DISA, belts, and pulleys. My original DISA looked perfectly good though.
It was for the piece of mind. When I pulled my DISA, I found out that it didn't need replacing or had any signs of wear. I actually felt some remorse as I scrapped away the OEM rubber ring to replace it with the GAS o-ring. It was functioning perfectly. It was also fairly clean... However, I'm still very happy that I did it and would do it again if given the choice. The GAS kit is perfectly engineered and is in every way superior to the OEM design.
Even though the DISA looked fine, the car drives much better now. It's much smoother through the rpm band. This could've resulted from replacing the belts and pulleys, but she's driving like a dream now. I can't believe it made such a difference. My belts weren't too bad and only one pulley required replacing (I replaced two anyways). I'm running at 68k miles.
That's good to know. Thanks Bav!
