^that's the removal instruction I read before doing this.
So called BMWNA Customer Relations today, they took my info and said they'd look into it. Threads over on e38/39 forums have reported that BMWNA does offer some goodwill on this dead pixels repair, normally a heavily discounted instrument panel (in some cases the part is free) as long as you pay the 1 hour labor for install at your local dealer. I'd be game for that arrangement. I asked how they make a determination on these requests and he said it depends on each particular case, how long you've owned the vehicle, etc. Then he noticed from looking at my file that I was a multiple & repetitive BMW owner, and with that little bit of additional info known he said no promises but if they don't give me a break on this repair then they probably won't help anyone.
He also asked if I had any other questions so I asked about the dry rotting rubber around the side windows on one of our coupes, whined that the price for the part was way too high for something that never wears out on other cars of the same age, he promised to look into that one too. If I get any traction on this one, it'll set a precedent for others to follow with a request for some goodwill on the cost of the shadow line window trim.
I'm so glad that PA does not require a front plate.
Here's a photo, I just need to adjust the side moldings to eliminate those two gaps.

CA "requires" front plates, but they usually only enforce it on JDM (lots of ricers here in Sacramento) because many of them act stupid on the road or have illegal/stolen parts. Cops don't usually bug Euro owners about it. I've had mine on for months and never got a second glance from any cops.
Got back from Mexico last night, drove my baby hard today on the way to work. It was good.
I'm sure you missed the ZHP. What part in Mexico ?
Hope you had a good trip Nic, let's get out to Turner this week!
