Def picking that up.
I got this one: http://www.amazon.com/Griffin-Powerj...dp/B0042B9U8Q/
I too looked at the Griffin.
Reasons I went with the OEM BMW one were:
Not pictured (can take one if requested) is that half of the silver ring flips up so that you can remove it fairly easily. The griffin while sits flush is near impossible to remove.
Also, the OEM one has the green light that matches the interior perfectly.
Good point on the removal. I needed 2 ports anyway... But the BMW unit at $18 is definitely a good deal for an OEM accessory. ebmwparts has it for $18.25 but that's excluding shipping. In case Braman BMW pricing goes up.
decided on what to use for my next oil change:
Total Quartz Energy 9000 0W-30

Total is a great French oil company, I just wasn't sure which would be the proper oil for our cars. These were the possible choices:
Total Quartz Energy 9000 5W40 = semi-synthetic; API Group III, hydrocracked 'dino' oil
Total Quartz Energy 9000 0W30 = full synthetic; min. API Group IV (PAO, esters, etc.)
After my research I determined that the 0-30 is the one I'm gonna run. Also, I like to run as small a variance between the two weights as possible so there is as little detergent/additives in my oil possible.
Also, if you decide to do this like I did make sure you buy the one badged ENERGY. There is a Quartz 9000 and Quartz Future 9000, those are not good for us.
Edit: BP, here is where you should be able to get some near you (per Total Lubricants USA - where to buy)
