The only way the BMW Performance BBK is worth the money is if you rebuild them with the StopTech pistons. By the way, they cost $450, so you're looking at some serious cash.

I don't know about Derek, but I found them to not really be worth their price. If I knew at the time that they'd need rebuilding after a couple of track days, then I would've bought some Wilwoods and called it a day. I loved these until I found about the piston cracking issue that's so common with these calipers, and still liked them enough until they actually destroyed one of my rotors from a stuck piston.

For street driving they're fine though; they look the part that's for sure.

So where are the official pics of the rear end ?

Seems like you and I fell into the impulsiveness and the "hotness" of the 6 piston caliper too. Racingbrake.com has a better setup with SS pistons with high temp seals but is still in the same price range just for parts alone. I didn't know you lost a rotor to a stuck piston...what did you end up doing? getting rid of the brakes or rebuilding the caliper?



I've talked to Dave @ APEXraceparts and he mentioned the 17" will clear 345mm rotors no problem. He believes the caliper will also clear just a matter of getting the right offset. My 17x8.5 +40 is cutting it close but it may work or may need a 10mm spacer.

the whole idea is to find a bbk that works with 17. I may just go stock ZCP calipers too or just plain e46 m3.

I ended up reverting to my old rotors and calipers. Can't rebuild the yellow ones; way too much money. Not in the budget for this year. :(

I sold my 330i calipers. I'm seriously thinking going back to 330i front calipers. I believe pads + track only rotors with my cooling ducts will be more than enough for what I am doing right now.

My stock 330 brakes with brass bushings, fresh Ate fluid, OEM rotors, and semi-track pads (Porterfield R4-S) have not had any overheating problems. I have the stock cooling ducts into the wheelwell without any ducting direct to the rotors. But I know Derbo drives harder and faster than me at the track, so he might need more heat management capacity!

Like I said the only reason I got the 135i was they looked so nice in the e46. Their track performance isn't exactly worth the price though. The looks of a bbk is a great deal but for a track built car I think I may go back to 330i brakes

Kalim has a list of m3 front suspension to swap to so I may look into that too for more options on rotors and pad selection.

Honestly I would look into a wilwood kit using some fsl calipers. Plenty of pad options , forged light calipers, and etc.
