Got an email this morning from the local dealership (Roadshow BMW). Running an October special, $49.99 alignment, time to get started on those front-end components so I can take advantage of that!
replaced ICV and intake cam position sensor - still getting code P0340
yea
Stuart, I've had that same code before, it was a simple fix. Just got home, let me fix up some liquid "remembery" medicine and see of it comes back to me.
So you don't have a DISA valve and your intake feed/boot set up is different/unique, the P0340 for me was too much air, read as a lean condition. On a stock set up I replaced the intake boots & DISA gasket, that cured it. For you, where could additional air be getting in? Is an intake gasket drying out and leaking or a mating surface loosened up or what? Do you have a smoker for the smoke test?
Guessing the throttle body gasket is toasted from heat. Possibly a leak at the fuel injector o-rings.

but the code is for cam position sensor - how is that air?
now getting P0030, P0050, P0102, 340 and P1345
Oh yeah...I was reading into Bruce's post and forgot about P0340.
What does INPA say about the errors?
