Thanks for your input on these John :)
It's definitely a great bang for the buck.

Thanks to Mr. Joop! The LCM SW version 4.0 is now happily running in my ZHP. Triple blink and euro-style (heart beat) hazard lights are active and I'm happy as a clam! :grooving
The version of my old LCM was 3.6 (close)
The swap took a whole of 10 minutes, including some detailing under the trim.
Funny, after firing up the SSS software to go over some other settings I have noticed a new entry that wasn't there before (see pic below)
:thumbsup

Stuart, perhaps when I buy my own house :) This garage comes with the 1br I'm renting so I'll have to deal with ugly walls for now. :)

Really digging the added utility of the euro tray, what a great upgrade!
It is a fantastic replacement for the terrible cupholders in the e46.

Gary, it's essentially takes a whole new LCM. There is no actual software upgrade path/method that we're aware of. LCM version 4.0 and later (note: there're no known benefits with higher versions over 4.0) started coming with e46 models made in 2006 (or maybe late 2005 but I'm not sure on that). It's basically a matter of searching through junk yards for matching donors. The good part is that the version is stickered on the side of the LCM so you can work with junk yards over the phone on this. Going through the dealer could get spendy. Then there's a bit of coding required as well but it's pretty easy. Other than that, it's a 10 minute swap.
Funny, I drove my surfer van to work today instead of my zhp and was pretty annoyed with the lack of triple blink function. LOL
