I think the "pro" cameras are weather proof, but the "prosumer" models are not. Could be wrong though.

All I know is this...
My 5DMKII has been in 3 ft of snow (literally fell into 3 feet of snow in Colorado), been dropped from 3ft or more at least twice, been out in the rain about 10 times while I had to continue shooting and never had any issues.
Also from what I understand, a lot of the older 5D's have survived almost 10 years of photojournalist use out in Iraq/Afghanistan and the rigors of war (not my personal experience thank God). They build those things pretty tough.
The lenses... that another story.
Dennis, we'll be here when you get the camera.
