That's dirt dude (looks like dried mud). If it was fire damaged it would have melted the plastic

Yeah, I believe it is dirt also, however the power cable that goes over the motor is pulled taught and the channel pulled down with it... so wondering if the main cable grounded, shorted and caught fire...
