I don't know which part it is specifically on the e46, but it sounds like the bearing on an idler, tensioner, or possibly a driven accessory.
The problem with driving it is if something does seize and the belt breaks at high rpm, it can grenade other stuff like the cooling reservoir, fan, radiator, or even put dimples in the hood.

Oops. Dane beat me to it.

I would remove the mechanical fan first and see if the noise is still there. If it is, then look at the pulleys and belts.
Either way look into doing the electrical fan mod
Going to pick up idler pulley and pulley tht goes on hydraulic tensioner...also the mechanical ac tensioner...will replace them this afternoon.
Removed the bolts and checked the numbers. Here is a picture! Based on the BT logo I assume I have it! I also assume that PK: 9950 is my passcode? How do I connect it to my phone then?

You know that sneezing man button on your steering wheel?
Press that button for 2-3 seconds, while keeping it pressed in, turn the ignition to the second position, keep it pressed for 2 or 3 more seconds and then release. It should say BT PAIRING on your radio display at that point. Pull out your phone and make sure bluetooth is on then search for devices like you would connect to anything else. Enter the PK and you're good to go.
Nothing came up when I tried that...
Quick question....what is the capacity of the ZHP differential?
Don't know exactly but it's a tad over 1.5qts I believe. Fill until it flows back out of the hole (as I'm sure you know).

"ZHP is a garbage option anyway- just some cosmetic upgrades with a different cam and diff to claw back some of the performance lost fitting those hideous and heavy wheels. Any 330 with a 3.46 diff will smoke a ZHP every time. The whole Mafia thing reeks of childish behavior." - anonymous
Ok. I only got 2 qts left of Liqui-Moly diff fluids left. Enough for my fluid change.
hmm you might need to reset the module.
Disconnect the battery, unplug the module, reconnect the battery, turn on the car, wait a few minutes. Disconnect batter again, reconnect the module, reconnect battery, turn on car again. Attempt pairing proceedure again after that. I have also heard that sometimes yoyu don't need to do the pairing proceedure, you just ave tobe searching for devices while you turn on your car and it will come up. I'll keep looking for a difinitive answer.
Any idea why transmissions have a fluid filter but diffs don't? Is it just the significantly more moving parts?
I don't know whether all transmissions have filters, but I would assume that some do because transmissions are much more complex (multiple gears, shaft, syncrhos, etc) and also have a greater variety of mechanical movement: both rotational (gears turning) and translational (dogs/collars moving back and forth as different gears are selected). There is, therefore, much greater possibility for metallic particles to be abraded. So filters are added to prevent further damage.
What fluids would you guys choose for Differential Fluid change? Lubro-Moly or Redline MT-90? Thanks.

Redline for tranny and diff.
I have a non folded back seats and the cover in the trunk is sagging. I am not sure how it should be attached. There is a hole in the middle of it, but I don't see any spot where a clip can be attached. There are few spots where clips can be attached. I placed them, but the top section is still sagging.
It looks super annoying any time I am opening my trunk. I have a feeling that I am missing top cover, if such thing exists.
My be somebody can take a few pictures of the trunk lining layout for me. Here is my mess

Has Turner Motorsport stopped putting together maintenance kits and cooling system kits? The links to the kits I used show them as no longer available. I shot them an email but haven't heard anything back.
Wonder why
Just conjecture, but keep in mind that Turner was bought by ECS in the last year or so. I figured when it happened that they would probably realign store priorities sooner or later, with ECS selling to the regular crowd and Turner concentrating on racing/Autocross crowd....but then again I don't know anymore than anyone else!
Here's the links to what I purchased for my cooling system overhaul:

The last link is a kit that replaces all of the coolant hoses and pipes. Here's just the upper and lower radiator hoses to save some money:

WeissLicht Illustro FLEX LED's for high-beams on a facelifted coupe (I just typed "facelifted couple", fwiw): any tips from owners here? It's a bit daunting and Bimmian's installation guide is a few seconds of a longer promo video.
There really isn't much to it. I installed these in my sedan housing - I can't imagine the coupe housing being much different. Take cap off, take out old bulb, and put new bulb in. Spread out the heatsink ribbon and stuff it inside the housing along with the small resistor box. It's a tight fit, but doable. It's a lot easier if you take your headlight out.
