Gary, the Avant-2 so far has been pretty impressive. I am quite happy with it despite a few small software glitches, which will likely be fixed in the near future. To answer your question about an iphone, I have no idea because I am android user, which is obviously working fine. I can stream music via bluetooth, tether via usb or even via wifi hotspot. While reading the forums, some users reporting being unable to stream music via bluetooth from an iphone while others said they had no problems with it. So I am not sure what the latest status is. I'll try to get my friend to use an iphone with it and will report when I get a chance.

A quick update.

The AVIN deck has been wonderful. I have received a version update not long ago and it has a number of nice little fixes and improvements. No complaints so far.

It was a dry day for a change so I took this opportunity to swap out the original end-links with a set of brand new OEMs that I had bought earlier this year. It was good timing because, although there was no noticeable play in the joints, the dust cover has come undone so it was just a matter of time before the links would wear out. Surprisingly a very easy job, which took about 45 minutes. The steering feels excellent!

Took a bit of time today to put the car up on the front stands and change the oil after almost 9k of happy and flawless miles. All went very smoothly and I didn't spill a drop, which is something I can't say happens a lot. Reset the oil service interval and it's good to keep on going.

While I was under, I dropped the plastic engine guard to check for any leaks. In the past, I've seen a few drops of oil on the case and sway bar. I was kind of expecting to see more since I haven't looked under the car in months. Surprisingly, everything appeared dry and clean. :thumbsup Also added a tiny bit of coolant to the system as it was on the lower side.

Well ladies and gents, with a heavy heart, here's my big update. Over the past six weeks, my stable has gone through a major change and it's not over yet. Since I graduated from university back in July, I slowly started getting back to doing motorcycle track days, which is something I did quite intensely before getting serious about my education. One of the main ingredients in this endeavor was my trusty old VW Eurovan, as it was my means of hauling my bike to and from race tracks as well as serving as my surfing vehicle. What became quite clear is that at 14 years and 160k miles, it was not as reliable as I'd like it to be, especially on long trips. The transmission was showing signs of inevitable rebuild and this is something I didn't wish to get into. So the Eurovan has gone to a new good home a few weeks ago. Meanwhile, I managed to score an insanely good deal on a 2011 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 144WB. The Sprinter has only 31k miles and another year of warranty. It is very agile and effortless operate--to my pleasant surprise. After driving it around for a few weeks, it became clear that between surfing nearly every day, going mountain biking, and going to race tracks, I'm going to be driving the Sprinter 98% of the time and zhp will not be getting the attention it deserves. So I had to make a difficult call to put it up for sale. I am still in disbelief that I'm going through with this but my logical side is telling me that I should only have one vehicle that does it all. Surely, my ZHP cannot be replaced in how it makes me feel but it simply doesn't fit my current life style and I have to accept it. Should things change in the future, I'll be happy to come back to a BMW. So over the next couple of days, I will be putting together a "for sale" ad. Someone is going to get a sweet ZHP to enjoy. :eyetwitch

Well, ladies and gents, my beloved ZHP has officially left the building; and off to a new and very good home. The new owner was so excited and clearly knew what he was getting that I have no doubt that it will be well loved and cared for. I didn't get to watch her drive off but I did take a quick last shot of how she looked before I went to meet the buyer.

What can I say, it has been an amazing journey, owning a car I have been dreaming about for nearly a decade. I have learned a great deal and enjoyed every step of the way. Being a proud member of the ZHP mafia community has been a big part of my journey and I wanted to thank everyone who has supported me in my BMW adventure. You guys are truly one outstanding group of people.

My new project is a 2011 Kawasaki ZX-10R race bike. I picked her up a few months ago and been slowly planning to make it a race track beast she was meant to be :scratchinghead

I love 2011+ 10R's. Such a fun bike to ride. I've been riding since 2006, but my old 06 636 is kind of beaten up from a few off track excursions.

Hey gang, just wanted to check in and say hello as well as to provide a quick update. I've been really enjoying developing my race bike and it has come a long way. A lot of cool little trick stuff is going on under the hood of this beast and more to come. There have been a lot of changes to the Ohlins suspension and braking system. Somehow Brembo comes out on top, big surprise? :)

The next big upgrade I have lined up is Kawasaki kit race ECU/Harness, which will allow me to mess around with just about everything from fuel maps, timing, traction control, to engine braking. I can't wait to dig into it next month. I'll include a few recent action photos from Laguna Seca below.

Very glad to see that the ZHP community is going strong. I miss my ZHP and all the joy it brought me (when I didn't have to sleep under it). I also miss hanging out here with you guys. Sniff. Funny story, my neighbor couple (who own an e46 wagon and sedan) approached me recently wondering where my ZHP was. When I told them I sold it, they were disappointingly shocked and said that if they had known I was selling it, they would have bought it from me. Ahh :facepalm. It would have been so nice to see it parked outside every day, even if it wasn't mine. Especially in the hands of e46 lovers. Oh well :)

So I picked up my race ECU setup from a friend who used to race the same bike. Unfortunately, before retiring from racing, he had crashed the bike and it caught a small fire (gas tank hit the pavement). As a result, the harness (which race ECU requires) got a little torched. I was hoping to possibly rebuild it but the branch that connects up to the injectors is pretty much toast. So I'm out on a hunt for a harness, which isn't hard to find but I'm just looking for the right deal. This obviously isn't stopping me as my current stock ECU has been de-restricted and re-mapped on a dyno and is actually pretty good. It has 3 power modes whith different levels of aggressiveness. The downside of it (and this is the reason for the race ECU) is that I can't make any changes to it. Even to increase idle speed, I can't do it! Drives me bonkers.

I'm sure you will source that race harness and be up and running Giya! :thumbsup
