It looks like the rubber seal has started to tear/dry rot right at the end of the long piece where it makes the 180 degrees turn at the corner of the rear side window -- is that true?
Your 5th & 6th pics make it look like the rubber has split at the very end of that long piece of trim. Could you please take some close up pics of the long piece where it makes the 180 degree turn at the C pillar to come back to the side window.
I can see where the where the shadows might be making it look that way, but I guess you will have to take my word for it. The curve on the rubber is from the glass at the 180 deg bend.
I have bought the upper trim on a salvage M3 that had a severely torn/rotting rubber seal before and replaced the rubber portion. I think the DIY is on the M3forum... But again, the rubber on this trim good.

Oh if only you had the Sedan trim. The drivers side of mine seems broken somehow(near the back window)....I assume it was all one piece at one point.
