Got my beautiful new shift knob in the mail today, but I can't get the old on off! Please help...
Just pull. It's not threaded, glued, or anything else.
Just a little elbow grease. Put it in second gear and pull straight up...hard.
Takes about 80 pounds of force to come loose iirc.
Just be careful that you don't blast yourself in the face when it breaks loose. I've read about it happening more than once.

You prolly would have smacked yourself in the face without these guys. Glad it's on...but not impressed with the pics.
grab and pull real hard!
Grasp the shaft just below the knob and begin tugging firmly. Be careful because when it comes you may get hit in the face.
