I would wager the photos are incorrect, I agree that 599 is correct for your VIN too.

With that said I'm seeing new from BMW online in the $400. The Valeo at FCP looks like it is $271 retail. Personally for the difference I would like buy the BMW. And if you do that supply them your VIN and then you have recourse if you get the wrong one.

BMW parts when bought from a BMW franchise incl a 2yr parts and labor warranty. AND I think alternators might have a lifetime warranty. For those reasons and the price delta I would consider a genuine.
I didn?t order it, but the description has the following verbiage:

    BMW Alternator - Valeo 12317501599
    325Ci, 325i, 325xi, 330Ci, 330i, 330xi, 525i, & more
    With rectangular-shaped 2-pin plug socket.
    Confirmed fitment.

I bought the reman Bosch as a last resort last year when the genuine bmw or the new Bosch unit weren?t available.
I?ve bought it from fcp and I?ve asked them today if I could return the reman Bosch and pay the difference for a new genuine bmw unit. Let?s see what they say.

Personally I wouldn't take even a new Bosch over a Valeo or BMW.

I see that description even on the BMW, I think thats just some copy and paste action, but certainly good idea to double check if possible.

Usually FCP doesn't let you upgrade unless the original part is NLA, but maybe they will in this case. Keep us posted.

Valeo was the one I chose on my E30 M3 many moons ago when the alternator went kaput. Still going......

FCP said they will not upgrade.
George, where did you see the genuine bmw alternator for $4xx?
FCP seems to only carry reman genuine bmw.
I don?t want to deal with reman stuff again, I?ll just get the genuine bmw.

I just realized that all the links, including the bmwmini parts store seem to only have the remanufactured parts. Any idea if the new parts are available anymore?

I don't believe BMW sells "new" alternators anymore or have for a long time.

Will your dealer price match or offer a CCA discount? Some will.
