Electric Engine Fan replace Fan blade/ clutch

    Hey,
I am new to the Forums. I have a 2006 ZHP and looking to see if I can replace the fan blade with clutch with the electric fan set up. Is this just plug and play.

    Thanks Ted

Yes. Plug and play. Are you referring to viscous clutch and/or electric fan? You have an automatic transmission?

There is a DIY on the swap here I think. Or perhaps on e46fanatics.

Yes. The Automatic transmission has the viscous fan clutch and I want to put in an electric fan from a Manual car. The plug for the AC aux fan on the automatic looks exactly the same as the electric fan from the Manual. Just wanted to get some inputs.

    Thanks Ted

Really easy. It's plug and play. The only thing is the "special tool" to remove the original fan. The good thing is once that is done, you won't need that tool again.

^ I think you have to use a "thin" 32mm wrench, but maybe a regular one works too. I found the WP holder that comes with most kits useless. A few careful taps with a mallet and mine broke loose pretty easily.

I'm curious, does this type of swap render the aux fan inoperable? Maybe it's no longer needed?
