New splash guard arrived, it's barely heavier than the original plastic guard but should be much sturdier. Hopefully I can find some time to install it before the weekend.

Congrats on the pick up! More photos of that paint please. I have a soft spot for a brown with metallic flakes.
Difficult with how bad the weather is but I managed to snap these casual shots on my travel cam:
In the meantime, I also tried to clean up the front end a bit before installing the splash guard. Unfortunately rust is a different beast and requires professional treatment, so I might have a shop address all the spots next spring. I did manage to make it a little better though:

No update in a while because this thing was rock solid as a daily throughout winter. Last week, something finally happened after a rear brake caliper seized, but even that was hardly a surprise given that the previous owner recently had to replace the other rear caliper, so diagnosing it was quick and easy.
Other than that it's been more reliable than my E46 ever was. That being said, it is a beater and there are a dozen things I can think of that would be worth replacing right away, from suspension items to brakes to certain body parts, but before I start any bigger projects, I'll wait and see if I can come back to the US this year or not. I should find out in a few weeks.
If I do, I'd really want an Alfa in nicer shape than this, so sadly I'll probably just sell it again when the time comes. And maybe get a higher end trim model without rust. Even if it saddens me given the gorgeous color that's finally starting to show again on those rare sunny days.
