How many miles did you drive in 2025 ?

Let's write down our initial mileage in 2025. Guess how many miles you will drive this year and compare with the real number when 2025 is over.

    2008 Mini = 69,511 (guess = 800 miles)
    2005 IR ZHP = 158,638 (guess = 400 miles)
    2005 SG ZHP = 128,080 (guess = 4,000 miles)

    2011 X3 = 185,584 (guess = 6,000 miles)
    2012 335i = xxx,xxx (guess = 4,000 miles)
    2020 X3 = 108,960 (guess = 10,000 miles)

    Mileage on 01/01/25: 93,856 miles
Estimated mileage for 2025: 800 or less (car remains on west coast while I reside in NYC)

What's your plan for maintaining the car while it sits? I might leave mine behind as well in the near future. Do you have people you know drive it every once in a while and maintain it?

Pretty much, my father's a real mensch and drives it every so often. I'll need to have fluids changed this year but otherwise it sits on a trickle charger and he drives it every so often.

Sounds like the most reasonable plan, maybe I can get my dad to switch out his Opel Omega for my E46. He's not super meticulous about maintenance, but it'll be better than nothing or selling it.

Fwiw I once stored mine for 1.5 years and didn't touch it, it was completely fine. I was quite surprised the gas hadn't gone bad either, I guess brimming the tank and putting stabilizer really goes a long way. The tires got a bit flat spotted even with like 50 psi in them but getting some heat in them got them back to normal. Battery was fine too, since I just disconnected it

I've stored my car before for 6 months at a time between being driven and it's never been an issue. Obviously it'd be nice if it was run more often but at the moment doesn't seem to be doing any particular harm. Just emotionally to me.

From google: "How Long Does It Take for Gas to Go Bad? The length of time fuel will remain useable in your gas tank is dependent on the fuel type. Regular gasoline has a shelf life of three to six months, premium or high-octane fuel should last close to nine months, while diesel can last up to a year before it begins to degrade."
