Paint Help please? off colour spot..?

I'm not sure what this is but when my car is in the sunlight on my drivers rear quarter panel there is a rather large spot where the paint is a lighter shade of grey. I'm not quite sure what its from, whether its a big scuff or some chemical got on the paint and made a big blotch where it doesn't shine as mirror as the rest of the paint.

Is this something I can buff out with some product?. I don't have a ton of knowledge on professionally detailing.

You can try to buff... But most likely its the paint.

I'd play with that pic in photoshop, but it looks like there is a round swirl above a vertical line suspiciously resembling a body shop repair of a previous hit on that panel.

That upper swirl could be the flash, but that vertical line extending to the bottom of the fender so neatly, doesn't look like chemical or abrasion damage.

The upper swirl is nothing. its either from the flash or just where I stopped rubbing the dust off.. I wiped the area where the mark is with a MF towel before I snapped the pic. the spot that is in the paint is below the line and onto the wheel arch

Its possible its from some previous damage I don't know about. When my car was in the body shop after I was rear ended. The guy showed me that the rear had already been in an accident and had been repaired before.

Yea, tomorrow I'll get another picture from the same angle and one from the opposite angle.
You can only see it when the sun shines on it.
