Time for Coils (for the engine)

So I've been having a misfire code on cylinders 1 and 5 on my car for the past few days and since I replaced the spark plugs a year ago I'm thinking it's the coils. Car has 143k miles on it so it may be time for all new coils. Is there any advantage to getting the BavAuto performance coils as opposed to the stock coils? They're about $70 more

I've read that they're really only necessary if your running FI but will I see any difference on my car?

You don't need it on a non-internally modified or non-FI engine, same goes with high performance wires and high flow injectors. You might want to replace your wires also since yours might be the original wires. Stock coils/wires are perfectly suited for your car's performance capabilities.

For example: I upgraded the coil on the 02 and I will probably do the same on the 320 but those are completely different technology (standalone coil, not coil-on-plug), I would actually love to convert those cars to use the E46 COP but that is a project I'm not even close to getting to any time soon.

Ok thanks. Are the wires necessary? I was just planning to do all 6 coils.

    Wow...same part number...different prices...

I would at least test the resistance on them and make your decision based on that

Does the misdirected code follow a coil? If not...your coils may not be issue?

Yeah I'm going to switch 1 to 4 and 5 to 2 or something and see if the codes switch

You are correct Dane, a misfiring cylinder code will transfer over.
