Oil light came on pulling into the parking lot for dinner. OIL!!!! What the!!!! Anyhow, no light when I got home. The dipstick was showing a quart low. Added a quart and all is good.
ETA: Last oil change was back in 2023 with roughly 1,000 miles of driving. Probably on par with other cases of burning oil (?).

One time, I waited two years to do an oil change. The tech reported my oil filter was crumbling because of the long interval.
Now I try to get an oil change annually, regardless of mileage.

Interesting. I don?t remember the filter feeling any different at the last oil change. It wasn?t that many miles either. Probably 2k maybe less? Not at my computer at the moment.
I?ve heard others say to change your oil at least annually or even every 6 mos regardless of mileage(!).

I bet the oil filter's quality is a big factor. In my case, I bought the car from a Chevrolet dealer and they changed the oil before the sale.
I have no clue which brand they used.
