Seems like an upgrade to their D5113U as stated in the ebay and Eonon page links. Specs are better as well (4x65W sounnd instead of 4x45). It's funny that the 5113U costs more on Eonon's website AND on ebay yet it's more dated version... Hmmm. Time to return mine.

Very very interesting. Thanks for that information. If this is a high quality product, this would (somewhat) counter my fear of dealing with any chinese based companies. I do not know anything about Dynavin either, though. I would compare the Dynavin and Eonon very closly regarding usability (youtube?) and research glitches.

Also, funny how a chinese company is complaining about a company making cheap knock offs of their stuff (see the banner message on their site about selling cheap imitators).

It's definitely not OEM quality. The hardware is there, but the software on the D5113U leaves a lot to be desired. Controls and UI are terrible (IMO) and really need improvements. I can live with it, but wouldn't be surprised if others couldn't. Dang chinese should hire better programmers! I know they have them! If the D5150 fixes these issues it would definitely be worth it, especially considering what you pay for. Interesting indeed, the price is pretty good also. If this is the newer version shouldn't it be more? It's weird that is $100+ cheaper. I really want Nav but the glitchy software and the bad glare of the screen are some issues that bug me.

Technically the D5150 is more expensive (+$100). However, it's being sold at a 49% off sale versus 25% (D5113) - see my Eonon links for full details. The D5150 is confirmed as an upgrade to the 5113.

Yes, glare sucks but there are anti-glare protectors... Glitchy software is the killer.

Apparently it does have the new CANBUS system and remembers where you left it off... Again, poor english on their side, so I'm not 100% confident that they knew what I meant. LOL.

Ugh, I'm gonna return my D5113... Probably going to break even, since I'll have to pay shipping back for my old unit. From the looks of the reviews so far it appears to be an upgrade. I know (and confirmed from a user) they've fixed the volume issue for the HK sound, so it'll be worth it in just that regard alone. Volume range is fixed as well as incremental volume changes! Also the red appears to closely (but not absolutely) match the orange - it doesn't dim with our light dimmer/adjuster, but that's minor. At least the red lights only turn on when the headlights/DRL's are activated. Red looks pretty good from pictures - cant really see a difference even though I'm told there is some... I think the DVD/CD slot path lights are always on though, regardless of LCM status (minor and kinda cool I guess). Radio tuning is infinitely better than the 5113. The right knob now rotates (just like the left knob did) instead of being spring limited. Rotating the right knob surfs the frequencies. To search for the nearest station, you press the left and right arrows on radio screen. Sound is also supposedly improved from the D5113 noticeably.

From what I've heard, it is more difficult to install. Damn engineers decided to move the AV female connectors to the far left of the unit (as in pictures) right above the radio antenna input. As we all know, they just placed more hardware in the area with the least amount of space! LOL. Random pop up's may still be a problem with even the new CANBUS, I'm not sure and will ask again, but he needs more time with the unit.

I just got the eonon and it's pretty good overall. I'll test it for a few days and order a rear view camera to set it up with. Once I get all that I will do a full review. I am pretty glad about the device. There are some minor things but overall I would give it a 85% positive rate.

1 week Update:
So its been about a week now since I've installed the unit. Everything fits up nicely, no strange rattles or pops from the speakers.

Radio:
I installed the 40VW10 antenna adapter and it mated right up to my factory antenna booster (MY2001). The radio reception is just like the OEM setup, so can't complain there. All my stations save correctly even after the unit restarts.

SD Card:
I used a 16 GB Patriot SD Card and loaded up my music library (categorized by folders) and some movies. Movies are in divx/xvid/avi format and play just correctly. The folders are easy to navigate and the sound quality is better than OEM, pretty much the same as my previous pioneer headunit.

Bluetooth:
Bluetooth pairs automatically when I start the car and has no issues dialing out / receiving calls in both navi/radio modes. People mention it can be hard to hear my while accelerating, but I've got a pretty loud exhaust as is (Agency Power). The call log is spotty at best, sometimes I see some calls in there that don't show up in my call log. The phone book loads just fine, however, all the contacts show up in random order. This is most likely due to the fact that I don't have any contacts stored in my phone. All the contacts are setup through Google, and synced in, so there may be an issue with the contact hash code being read by the unit.



A2DP works as well. I can play / pause / skip tracks from music stored on my phone ( Galaxy S3 ). If i open up pandora/songza, it will play through the speakers as well. The sound quality is pretty good, although sometimes, there's a little stutter when you first start playing music. The play/pause/skip works with pandora/songza as well. There is no display of the song that is currently playing though.

Steering Wheel Controls:
This is pretty much the only real issue I've had with this unit. The steering wheel controls work for volume/track change/mode change/eq change. I have had no luck programming the controls for custom actions, I am currently speaking with an Eonon rep to rectify this. There seems to be an issue with the canbus adapter activating the mode button each time the car starts, thereby putting the unit into aux mode regardless of where you were last. Currently, I have my canbus disconnected as I never use the steering wheel controls anyways, and waiting for news from Eonon. With the canbus disconnected, the unit remembers whichever mode you were in last.

Navigation:
I never used the stock maps with the unit. I purchased a 4 GB microSD from walmart and loaded a copy of iGo Primo 2.4. It is working flawlessly, but as with all winCE navigation systems, tweaking is required to get it just how you like (poi's, nuance tts, etc). The system plays music in the background while in navi mode, and when you turn off the car, it will remember your route. The only issue with the navi so far is that I cannot watch a DVD/SD while having the navi on in the background. The navi system seems to pause when you leave it for more than 30 seconds, so you cannot hear instructions in the background. Having the movie/music playing in the background with the navi on in the foreground works just fine.

Issue Recap:
1. Steering Wheel CAN-BUS cannot be reprogrammed and puts you into aux mode each time. The fix is the leave can-bus disconnected, or potentially cut the mode wire ( I haven't tried this )
2. Navigation can't be used while in the background. You can have other audio sources playing in the background, but navi must be in the front.
3. On my harness, the USB/DVD/SD audio did not work from the get go. Radio worked fine. The fix is to cut the blue wire on the harness, and attach the ANT1 blue wire that is attached to nothing, into the harness, then just cover the cut blue wire from the unit. It seems like Eonon accidentally swapped the wires around on the harness.

Overall Thoughts:
Totally worth the $366 for the unit. It came well packaged and had all accessories. I wouldn't bother with the maps, as I heard the maps that come with the unit suck anyways (from the Mazda3 forums D5151, which is essentially the same unit). The audio quality is great. It seems like they fixed most of the issues from the other dynavin clone units. The install was a little frustrating due to the blue wire issue, but for the price, I wouldn't hesitate to make the purchase again. I have not tried the ipod interface, as I don't use my ipod at all (my nano still says plug into iTunes for the first time lol). The canbus issue may be a big issue for some, but for me, I've had aftermarket headunits in my car since my 330ci, so I've never used the steering wheel controls anyways. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to update the look of their interior and have some new toys to play with as well.

Steering wheel controls do work if you don't mind the random start up at the beginning. I normally just turn on and off the car. Usually it starts on a random mode.

Just updated igo software and deleted some files that isn't needed to speed up performance and loading times. I just downloaded more files and will do a update later tonight. The newer igo has a better sense of volume built into the system. So the GPS is well mix into the music now.

I will take the device apart and see what else I can do to reroute the wiring setup that they did. Not a fan of the large mess of wires they got. It prevents the unit from mounting flush.

Just got mine installed. Had to splice the wires in the harness and ultimately had to significantly trim the butts of the antenna and Ipod adapters. Both were simply too long to install with the unit and get even remotely close to flush. I'm talking 1/4-1/2" sticking out. After more hours than I care to admit, I got it installed and after playing with it, all seems operational, including the screen dimming with lights. Bluetooth wasn't quite what I was hoping for, no voice commands at all so dialing out will require hands operation. Receiving is good...the bluetooth button on the steering wheel works fine at answering and ending the call. The CANBUS issue is annoying having it constantly change to a different input when you restart the car, but it's picking between AUX, Radio and Ipod...and it seems pretty random so there's a 2/3 chance I'll be fine with what it lands on.

Hmmm. I had to buy a separate antenna adapter (smaller one) so my 5113 would fit. The Ipod adapter that came with the unit had a 90 degree bend. Are you saying that the 5150 doesn't have that elbow bend so it doesn't fit???

Nope it worked without adding another pin. The screen dims but leds don't. Heard a rumor the canbus issue might be able to be identified with a relay that delays the canbus turning on before the head unit does. Eonon should fix that if so.

That's true.

Again my car never came with a light sensor. I retrofitted it in. So that's why I needed the extra wire. :)

Gary, I think it's only the '03 ZHPs that didn't have the light sensor...at least my '03 didn't come with it either. '04 and later had light sensors.

I plan to retrofit auto rain sensor/light sensor into my ZHP as well sometime this year...

My car is an 03 ZHP with no light sensor (auto lights) so just confirming, my car somehow still does dim the LCD light when I turn on my headlights.

That's odd. If I remember correctly, the 5113's screen dimmed with headlights and the light surrounds for the buttons also dimmed and only turned on if your lights turned on... I could be wrong, but that's what I remember.

I have the HK with business cd head unit. I can confirm that all the subs work and the rear amp heats up while in use so its all receiving power as it should.

Well I must say I do do a lot of research and follow up with a lot of things. Also can't say I did it alone since I had to contact Chad to fully understand the wiring set up and what not. I never really like testing out the voltages of the wires since I just don't know how to do it correctly. So I usually just try things out and hope for the best. :)

So it is actually staying on for like 20 seconds when I turn the key then turning off. Instead I want it to be in the reverse and stay off for 20 seconds then turn on.

I have to make a new drawing for the thread- my wiring diagram isn't quite right because at first I didn't quite understand what he was trying to accomplish.

He's changing a wire over tonight from the 87 contact to the 87a contact of the relay, which will resolve his current problem of it working backwards.
In the drawing, I show the radio accessory wire being cut, but that wire just gets tapped into for trigger and relay pin 30 power, while the accessory on wire of the canbus will be wired to 87a.

I ended up modifying my camera and nothing on the car (no dremeling/drilling anything on the car and such, it's possible...)

Goes without saying, but test the camera and all wires before installing it. I had a bad AV cable and didn't do this... Needless to say, it was a PITA to diagnose and I had to eventually swap it out. Threading the AV cable through the trunk loom was the hardest part IMO and I had to do it twice.

So snaked the RCA cable through the grommet. It was stuck so I applied a lot of pressure. Apparently the wire inside split which cause me not to have a signal. I'll replace it this weekend and give you all a update. I did test the cameras with another cord and a 9v battery and confirms they work. :)

I thought about it but didn't go that route since its not much work to route the cable and also there isn't much room left behind the head unit with the relay and everything being routed back there. The cable is only a dollar or two to replace anyways.

Ok, help me clear something up...

Went ahead and ordered this camera which looks to be the sedan specific one:

Now, been reading up and it looks like the issue with older head units is the backup camera signal wire (pink) was not spliced into the CAN bus connector in the harness so it either had to be manually spliced, or you'd have to run a reverse signal wire from the fuse box and/or back of the car at the reverse lights.

In the D5150, that pink wire in the number 5 pin on the unit IS connected to the CAN bus. Am I correct that no signal wire needs to be run to the head unit?

Just purchased the Eonon D5150U on eBay, Eonon's store. They have 10 left and they are listed at $999.00 same as all the others on ebay now. I made an offer for $350 and they accepted. You can use either the single cutout version w/ smoker's package (pn 51167001410), or the single cutout version without smoker's package (pn 51167001408).....depending on if your vehicle has the smoker's package or not. You are basically ordering the kit for a vehicle that has navigation.

I didn't submit a comment and I thought maybe thats why I didn't get a response. So thats why I sent them a message, I essentially said a combination of what you and Charlie said. I can retract my offer but that will count against my eBay profile, so I will wait for the offer to expire (tomorrow) and then try again if they dont approve it today.

Ya that's exactly why I bought mine now. They are pretty much $999 everywhere else, every eBay seller raised the prices on these. I had 4 or 5 in my watch list for $350-$450 and all of a sudden the prices jumped to $999!

If I choose to wait I will still get my unit for the $341 I submitted and am tempted to let them know I will wait for my unit just in case pricing on these go up like I'm guessing they will.....I suspect that their other auctions will provide the same results as this one has. Gary, I would tell them that you're willing to wait for them to ship a new unit out to you. This way if pricing goes up like I think they will, you will have gotten yours for well under the new pricing...:thumbsup

I tried to avoid buying one of these and got a USA spec for my ipod instead but unfortunately I really don't like the interface and the inability to scroll through artists and albums on the head unit. I guess I'll be standing in line for an Eonon once they are back in stock as long as they are $350. $999 is laughable - that must be their way of stemming demand until they are back in stock yet keeping their ebay auctions going.

Thats probably because it's a Chinese unit bla bla bla, but I miss having XM radio.
