Thanks Dane, I was looking for that post! Did you have a mechanical one to when you purchased the ZHP? I'm trying to decide if the actual shock and base unit will need replacing, or if I can just buy the washers, bolts, pulley and caps.

Does any idea what the lifespan for a hydraulic shock type tensioner is?

No data on longevity. The kit I got went on the ZSP. Seemed like a very solid unti.

So I found more things to do while I had the Front Clip off...

Still wondering if I should pull the trigger on the Hydraulic Shock Tensioner

I'll have to see (and photograph)what the differences between one with 100+k miles on it when I get to it. I know it's pretty dirty and pitted, and the top mounting Dust Cover is missing.

I'm also now curious how important the heater core send and return lines are to replace. I hear that's a real PITA when you get to the back of the block.

Need to check my diy thread where I have it laid out. It may shed some light for you.

Yeah I saw that. I'm definitely getting the pulley and associated bolts and washers, the question is tho what is the lifespan of the shock? I'm going to call my Dealer on Tuesday and see if Master Mechanic Joe can give me good explanation of the quality and life of the shock.

I would hedge, that the lifetime of the shock > lifetime of the mechanical spring. Keep us filled in on what he says.
