bokeh is not just DOF, nor is it just about distorted soft blurry circles but it's extreme DOF to the point where it begins to distort the shapes that are severely out of focus, be it points of light or shapes/objects?

That sounds like what I have been calling bokeh... not saying it's correct though

Bokeh is the aesthetic quality of blur in OOF areas, it is not the blur itself. There's photos that have a semi-shallow depth of field and there's photos that have bokeh...

I'm still confused on what constitutes bokeh. The BMW roundel above with ice on the hood, is there bokeh in that picture?

By my definition (which could be wrong) that's just shallow depth of field.
