I went outside to I investigate and measured both front and rear rims at 19.5 from top to bottom of rim. (not including the tire) obviously this isn't the proper way to measure rim size, but if the rears were in fact bigger, wouldn't the measurements differ?

The tires in the rear are obviously wider (you can an visually tell).

So I'm obviously missing something here.

I believe you misunderstand what "staggered" means regarding our wheels; the wheels aren't different diameters, they are different widths (as you noticed). The front wheels are 18" in diameter & 8" in width; the rear wheels are 18" in diameter & 8.5" in width.

Yeah....in the Burgh...we call that a "stepped" setup.

Just to throw another tire in the mix I have heard some REALLY great reviews on the Bridgestone Potenza RE970AS's. Conti's are awesome for about 10k but then noisy and not quite right for the next 20-30k (depending how many miles you get out of them).
