DIY Clear Corners.. is it possible?

    Flamesuit on!

I know the clear corners can be bought for ~100$ and they are oem..

However In my past life with subies we could easily remove the amber in the headlights by softening up the glue a little and then unclipping the orange reflector in the headlight..

I found a post for E90's doing this, and was wondering if anyone had tried it on the e46, or knew of a reason it would not work..

    Thanks!

The entire lens is amber. You'd have to replace the lens to make it clear.

are you talking about the facelift or pre-facelift.? because it looks like the black is behind a clear lens. I see the pre-facelift ones look like they have a full amber lens, and that makes sense.

I always saw it as there being an inner lens in there (which is what I meant by "entire" lens... dunno why I said entire though lol)...
Take it apart and please prove me wrong, because this would be a nice cheap way of getting clears if it works.
(I already have them though but this might benefit others)

If that is indeed a separable piece, it could potentially look a little awkward. See the black trim on the inside? That wouldn't be covered on the inside anymore, so you could get dirt and other crap trapped in there.

I haven't seen it done before. You are probably the first.

There is a clear lens over the amber part. I was impatient and tried to separate the two with a utility knife and it shattered. I would think with some patience and an oven to soften up the bond, that this would be possible. There is no way my wife would let me put this in our oven though.
