Used steering wheel trim installed. Much better then the old one but still not up to my standards. But it will do for now.

That's the general feeling I have about newer BMWs. Although I do love the heads up display. Maybe I'm getting crotchety in my old age (mid 20s).
Recall done though. They did say I need a passenger seat occupancy Matt and the module to fix my airbag light. Parts and labor at $708. Think I will do it myself.
As far as the new cars, they are nice. The f30 body style I started to like, it's got space inside and loaded with technology. However I still prefer a manual gearbox and just getting in and driving

I personally think the M4 is the second best looking "M3" to date. e46,f82,e30,e36,e92 for me.
They had a m4 vert on the lot. It was a dct model with 18s on it and steel brakes. Not sold on the coupes yet but love the lines of the sedan M3.
82k sticker price though.
I would though do a manual with cloth interior

Are we talking about a bumper respray ?
I had a hit and run a couple months ago. The fender got dented and the paint on the bumper spider cracked.
So new paint on the fender and new paint on the bumper. Everything will be blended so the paint will match.
Bumper will be removed prior to painting. Body work is done on the car so panels match as far as gaps/etc
Damage fixed on the fender and the bumper. Primer applied.
Paint guy said he will spray the car in the paint booth sometime this week. Bumper will be removed and painted off the car.
I will post more images of the progress when i get some.
But the body work came out great. The body line on the fender is nice and straight.

Pretty sure the fuel pump decided to die on me today. Car cranks over, starts, and dies right away.

Talked to the body shop and they said it can be fixed without replacing any metal. If I wait any longer, it would become a hole because the metal is thin there.

If you have the pieces you can reinstall. There is a small piece that is tack welded as a bandaid. That can possibly be reassembled with epoxy. Not that big of a deal with the right stuff. Body shop might help out.
I tried to fix it and install it. Seems flimsy. Need to see if I can find a place that won't charge $100 to ship it.

Talked to my body guy/paint today and got my car scheduled to get the rust issue fixed. Since it is just surface rust and it's minimal, no metal will need to be removed and replaced.
Funny thing is that the trim needs to come off since the entire panel will be painted/cleared. So perfect timing I guess

For those curious, below is the type of products that are used on my car.
PPG DC4000 clear coat and DCH3095 hardener.
A gallon of the clear coat is $400 and $70 for the hardener roughly. This enough to clearcoat the entire car.
PPG says that the clearcoat will last between 10-15 years.

You think so? They are right on the wear indicators in the center of the rear tires. The fronts I am not even worried about it.
Current mileage on the set of tires is roughly 20,600 but if I can stretch them out for another couple thousand miles that would be great.
If I do take the car, rough estimate on a round trip would be 2300 miles.

I didn't realize you already had 20k on them. From the pics they looked fine; mine looked more worn than that before needing replacement, but I got 23k or so out of my set before they hit cord.
I can't really see the inside wear. How is the inside?
It'd be fine for driving around locally, but I wouldn't do a 2000+ mile trip on that set if you already have 20k on them...

The inside and the outside of them are great. Not choppy or weird feathering. However the center is where they are worn.
2 rear tires comes out to be around $390 shipped from tirerack.

Well its either fly and rent a car down there or drive the zhp. All comes down to cost versus time spent on the road. Going to spend roughly 5 days in Tampa and Clearwater. Wife and I want to do some potential exploring to relocate.
Never done the trip but the furthest I driven the car was about 9 hours to South Carolina.
Guess If I am going to spend money on tires and other things might as well just fly huh?

What pressures are you running? You may be overinflating the tires if the center of the tire is worn. I would expect camber wear on the inside, if anything.

That's what I was thinking. Although it could be fun to have the ZHP down there, not that there are any twisty roads, but the roads are nice and it is fun to get some speed up at sunset in FL at least cruising down I-95 on the other side...so flat with gorgeous colors.

Flat road, beach, and sunset. Sounds like great areas for pictures and not having the Commonwealth of Virginia on your back for speeding lol.

Honestly, it's still cheaper to buy the tires and drive the ZHP than to fly/rent a car. Think of it this way; you're going to have to buy a set of tires anyway for the ZHP regardless of whether you rent or drive, so renting is just an unnecessary additional expense.
Yeah that is a good point. If it was not for this trip, I would drive on these tires till winter and get a set of snows.

Purchased a new fuel pump gasket seal since I did not replace it when I installed the fuel pump. Also got the M3 fuel pump baffle since the pump will be coming out again.
Benefit is the plastic baffle is more like a small "fuel pocket" which holds a small volume of fuel, but apparently enough to continue supply to the fuel pump when the tank gets low. Of course, this is until the fuel levels out again from the excessive movement.
Washed the car today. Hate bugs on the front end

Looks awesome. What about bumper trim? Forever black or Blackwow or just buy new trim, mine is starting to look like that too...
Good question. Do any of those products actually last a long time ?
Also I jacked up the rear of the car and put it on jackstands. Removed the rear wheels and will have new tires installed on them while i am in florida.

Vas,
Trip to Ffx Stn required, I found some things sitting in the garage:
- BMW e46 car cover, perfect, only used a couple of times, came with the 9K miles vert and we never used it
- aftermarket CF splitters, one minor scratch, price will reflect that, on the car only a couple of months
- OE hood & trunk blue & white roundels, perfect
- aftermarket CF & white hood & truck roundels, never installed
Have a BAVAuto brake pressure bleeder, talk me out of it, won't be hard. I'll probably trip over some other things soon too.

Lucky you that the dealer is reasonable.
My dealer is the one that price gouged the crap out of a MAF (and pretty much everything else I ever price quoted with them). My $380 MAF was quoted for $560 from them. The HVAC relocation panel I bought for just under $110 with tax from another dealer was over $150 from my local one. Insanity.

Daylight Savings Time is ending in November... so no DST means early darkness. I think you meant the other way around; it should never end...
Or more appropriately, regular time should be what DST is currently. Too bad that'll never happen...

I was referring to the clay bar...and not really. I use the foam gun and Mr pink for lube and do it right after a two bucket wash. The car isn't dirty at all so it doesn't take much kneading to keep the clay clean. Could do the same thing with the mitt and it'd go even faster. Claying done and she's back in the garage for sealant in a couple hours.

Nope; they stopped offering them. Ask Charlie - he had to call them to see if they had any left because he wanted to buy a red one and it wasn't offered anymore. He got lucky and supposedly got the last one at the time.
But I guess they saw the light and started making them again, because it's available on the website once more. :)
Vas,
how is your coolant temps now?
It isn't meant to make any difference in coolant temps. It's meant to vent at a lower pressure so there isn't so much pressure building up in the expansion tank. It effectively helps prolong the life of the ET.
Wasn't it just a group buy?

"ZHP is a garbage option anyway- just some cosmetic upgrades with a different cam and diff to claw back some of the performance lost fitting those hideous and heavy wheels. Any 330 with a 3.46 diff will smoke a ZHP every time. The whole Mafia thing reeks of childish behavior." - an e46fanatic
He was thorough. I never get that kind of feedback.

Passed Virginia state inspection this morning at 135,726.
2 slight leaks discovered under the car. First one is the diff cover and the second is the shifter selector seal. Both are very minor.
Inspector suggested an alignment and 2 new front tires due to toe wear.
Where did you get that done? That's no ordinary inspection!

Came up with this after driving around for a bit

Looks like a normal value. Mine hovers at 91 in normal operation and drops to 75-80 after a hard run on the highway (3rd gear downshift flat out). If it starts to go above 100 during normal operation, I'd pay attention to it.

Well then the cooling system is working great with the new lower cap.

Seems normal to me. VA State inspection is what.... $14.95? And that's for 30 minutes labor. They lose money on the ridiculous inspection required by the state, so many times they perform pretty thorough inspections with the hope of Recouping work/$.

Good way of looking at it.
It was $16 out the door.
Wish they didn't stick that huge sticker on the windshield though.

Ordered from Ebay UK the airbag bypass module to get rid of the airbag light that was on for the passenger seat occupancy mat. Installed it today and it worked great. No More airbag light.
About to get to 136k on the Odometer.

Well done. My 2005 ZHP doesn't have the airbag light on. However my 2005 Mini does, due to passenger seat occupancy mat. Luckily, there's a recall for it and I will schedule an appt some time soon.
Oil Change is coming up soon and I need to tackle replacing parts of the intake system. Do not have any records of it being done so who knows what condition the boots and the fuel filter is in.
So I have the following stuff in mind
1) Oil Change
2) Fuel Filter
3) Upper and Lower Intake Boots
4) G.A.S DISA rebuild kit
Thoughts and opinions?

Going with OEM boots? DISA rebuild is very straightfoward, should be an easy job for you. Might be a good time to clean the ICV and maybe MAF while you're at it.

Yeah regular rubber boots since they are cheap. Good call on cleaning the ICV and anything else while I am there.
Can't believe I put almost 47,000 miles on the car since I bought it and have not touched any of these parts. :(

Fuel filter is really easy, I recommend getting new hose as well, I ended up having to cut my old hose off to get the sucker off. I'm glad I bought the installation kit. I believe I bought mine from bav auto
