Completely MIA. Moved into a new house and my job picked up heavy. The ZHP went through some neglect but I'm back full swing, just picked up a Macbook cheap and working through the installs of all the coding software I can find. Time to have some fun...

On a related note, I found the scanner on amazon like mentioned above for $26. I would much rather my money go to a mafia member but curious of the price difference/value.

I finally got my PA soft to work, it was an ebay unit that I didn't get installed right years ago figured it was defective or something.

In reading the ZHP the initial screen reports similar mileage between the IHK and LCM, I notice that the looking at the detail of the DME, it report zero miles. The field FGSTBR reports the last 7 of the vin, the ADFG field reports 0000.

Reading my wife's 2001 525i, it shows the correct mileage on the DME page.

Any speculation why the ZHP reports 0 kms? Odo rollback? Replaced DME? I am the 3rd owner of the car. I have no reason to believe it was rolled back. I bought it about 2+ years ago with 80K. Lower mileage than some but not crazy low. It originally was a euro delivery car (US spec) to s serviceman.

If you want check whether you have the OEM alarm installed in your car, you can quickly follow this install DIY and check the locations for the motion and tilt sensors. If you don't find the sensors, you do not have the alarm.

Even if you don't have the alarm, you can enable the options within PA Soft and that will enable your 'clown nose' to blink when you lock the car.

You see, that's always been the problem with windows update. The updates end up breaking something else. Shawn, right click on those and see if you can rollback the driver to the previous version...

Yes, everything is corrected and made sure to work unlike the ones on ebay. I have been dealing with these for over 5 years and there has been about 4-5 different chipsets that they came with. Some required the 7-8 work while others actually needed more than that. Not only you get a full product yet you also get me for tech support. Thanks!

i have windows 10 and the device shows up in device manager but when ever i attempt to update the driver and point to the driver folder on the CD since its all I have... Windows says unable to locate a driver.

I then thought it was an unsigned driver so I disabled windows driver signature system and tried again with same results.

i advanced searched this thread and saw Tony saying just use the windows 7 folder with that specific driver and directions but where are those drivers and directions? is he directly sending them to people via dropbox/google driver/FTp etc... ?

that same night i made my original post, i found the x64 bit drivers on some website and installed them per some youtube video i found that was in another language.

i'm up and running.

I was really more curious why some people earlier in this thread obviously got a package with proper DISC and drivers while we being the latest ones got old stuff.

Edit: nvm I found some more info. Looks like I need a 20 pin adapter to connect under the hood on this thing. Stupid M52TU wagon wants to be the odd one of the bunch.

Should work well with the Underwood pac-man plug adapter. Use it on a 2001 X5 & 1997 318ti in addition to the ZHP.

I'm right there with ya buddy, 25 years in IT, switched careers 2 yrs ago. but all the ultrasound machines I work on are all windows based and they all connect to a network.... so much for getting away from IT LOL. Last thing I want to do at home is TS some computer issue...

I just got mine last week. Driver download load was straight forward, but as soon as I connected the unit to the laptop I got a "Hardware faulty" message. Been emailing and PMing Tony since Saturday but no reply

So I uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled - same issue. I read about every thread this weekend and finally came across one in the thread (BMWCurves thanks) that was having errors but chose to plug it into the OBD port anyway. And it worked for him. So I shot out to my car - and mine worked too.

Gotta say though, there's quite a few who struggled to get this working. But glad I'm on the other side of it now

Nice to see that every time you do a scan, besides viewing it in the PA SOft tool, it also creates a new folder in the C:/BMWxx..... folder and stores the scan results for future reference

You can totally run this on Windows 10 or Windows 7 btw. I personally have a few IBM Lenovo X220 that runs windows xp or windows 10 on them.

Finally got my Scanner up and running on a Windows 7. Tony gave me his full attention by using TeamViewer.

Now I have to learn and play the inside of the scanners ability. Probably need to start from the beginning of various threads on PASoft and see how you guys manage your scanners.

It works with Windows 10; mine runs Win10 and PA Soft works maybe 80% of the time. It's a very finicky software in general though. I've had issues with it on Win7, Win8/8.1, and Win10.

Sent from my SM-G950U using TapatalkIt all depends on what you are looking to code. If you go to the first post there is a good amount of coding options you can do on the scanner. For other specific options you would have to look at ncsexpert for those. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Just wanted to let everyone know that updating your windows to version 2004 will cause issues with drivers for BMW Scanner 1.4. There is a work around however it will be single use scenario. If you are able to revert to version 1909 for the time being.

Updated the drivers and everything to work with version 2004 and newer Windows 10 which the old stuff wasn't set up for. If anyone had already purchased from me before and need the updates let me know and I can provide that if the scanner isn't running for you.

About 7 years ago I got one from amazon, and even got a laptop with Win XP SP3 fro m Ebay just to do some coding on the ZHP but somehow i kept putting it off.... never even installed the SW, I think. It was also not clear to me all the problems people were having installing the SW. I guess I chickened out and lost interest.

I still have the scanner that I got 7 years ago but it's probably better to get the latest scanner and SW from you, I am going to order it soon.
In which form does the software come in? CD?
Since I have a laptop with Win XP SP3 (hope that it still boots up - I think i opened it only once to check that it works), do I need to any steps to install on an XP laptop?

I do have a Windows 7 Home and Windows 10 pro laptop (upgraded from 7 pro) too.
Which one would you advice I use ?
Also, how do I contact you if I need some remote support for installation and/or using the PASOFT?

Just the scanner. it includes the software with the scanner for $60. I think it says right in the description as well.

I don’t mind re-purchasing your product. I bought two back in 2018-19. I misplaced the first purchase.

I am curious if can use it to code ( make ready state ) my CATS.

Back Story:
Back in 2019, I sent my DME to Jim @ Kassel Performance for a “Performance Tune” shortly after passing CA smog check.
Fast Forward to 2021, my smog check is due. The smog tech said and showed me that the CATS never came to ready. Since the Kassel tune, I have NOT replaced the car battery, nor have I reset anything, nor has it been to any shop / dealer for repairs. I doubt it’s a drive cycle issue. I can only assume the CAT sensors were disabled during Performance Tune flash.

For the last 3~4 weeks I have been trying to get a reply from Jim. Asking if he can check on the DME and re-coded it to read the CATS.
Unfortunately, I have not gotten a reply as to when I can send it in and what the approximate turn-around time is. The ZHP is my daily-driver. I cannot afford
to have it down for the length it takes Jim to reply to an email. I have tried calling Jim, but I get vmail and zero replies.

If you think the PASoft will work. I would like to purchase it and avail of your tech support. I would gladly pay you for the additional work required.
I assume it can be done remotely as long I connect the laptop to vehicle, and have a battery charger connected to keep the battery voltage stable.
If another software is needed. Let me know. I am willing to pay for tech support.

Thank youYes it can work on any windows. No it won't program the readiness codes in.

Technically they should've tuned it correctly for the readiness codes. I'm not sure if there is a better shop to take it to regarding your situation.
