View Full Version : FS: PASOFT BMW SCANNER 1.4

Hi all,
I got a bunch of BMW Scanners P.A. Soft 1.4 for sale. They are all working with a new chipset that doesn't require any soldering or modifications. I have come across 3-4 different chipsets which require a different fix each time. So you don't have to do anything to these scanners.
You can just get it right at this site!
https://bmwpasoft.com
Great for quick coding without digging too deep into the car and causing problems. Also great for quick diagnosis and resetting lights.
Works with Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8 and 10.
I also provide remote tech support for all purchases to help set it up if needed.
Comes with reader, cable, and software.

For cars that are have the 20 pin connection under the hood you would need OBD2 female to 20pin Adapter Cable

ZKE Options:
To do any of the functions in the ZKE section:
- select "Coding data"
http://i.imgur.com/tq2uk.jpg
To activate the alarm optics without having a physical alarm:
-check DWA
-check the options with "optics"
*note if you have bits and pieces of the oem alarm, you may enable those options
http://i.imgur.com/Vws5T.jpg
To activate a OEM alarm:
-check DWA
-check DWA interior sensor
-uncheck DWA interior sensor, rear (unless you have a convertible which has a front and rear interior sensor)
-check DWA tilt alarm sensor
-check the options with "optics" and "acoustics"
*note you must have all 3 (4 for convertibles) pieces to the alarm otherwise your car will throw a code. e.g. you have the siren and motion sensor but no tilt; your DWA will show a fault and will not arm. Siren will still go off if doors are breached.
To enable remote closing windows:
-default "Opening (remote control)" is checked and "Locking (remote control)" is unchecked
-check "Locking (remote control)" to enable closing with remote
*note the lock button closes and unlock opens the windows upon holding of the key
http://i.imgur.com/R4FTZ.jpg
To enable one click to unlock all doors:
-default "Selective" is checked. This allows one click of the unlock button of the remote to unlock the drivers door. A second click unlocks remainder passenger doors
-check "No" to unlock all doors with one press of the unlock button
http://i.imgur.com/LRBFH.jpg
To change the tilt of the passenger mirror when in reverse:
-default "Memory" is unchecked
-set mirror switch to passenger. The mirror will tilt to your personal position.
-to set your position, have switch on passenger side, and adjust your mirror while in reverse gear.
*note if "Memory" is checked mirror switch must be set to passenger for option to work. Switching to driver will disable the auto-tilt.
**note if "Memory" is unchecked mirror switch must be set to driver for tilt to work (by default it tilts to the maximum amount). Switching to passenger will disable the auto-tilt.

EWS Options:
To check the number of keys you have used:
-select key status

To view live data:
-select live data
http://i.imgur.com/zXsGR.jpg
To DISABLE the clutch switch:

note* I haven't tired this as I don't need to nor have I installed aftermarket bucket seats
To DISABLE seat belt light:
-select "coding data"
-select "Equipment"
-uncheck "Seat-belt buckle switch"
note* I haven't tried this myself as I always wear a seat-belt nor have a race harness

Tony,
Know the PASoft 1.4 will read the basics on the e46, will it read anything on the e90 or e70?
Bruce
Tnhl1989
11-12-2014, 08:28 PM
No it will not read the e90 or e70. They require another scanner. That would be the BMW Scanner 2.1 or 3in1 version. They are upwards of 150 dollars or so for those. However there is a bluetooth OBD2 to connect to your phone and you can read codes using that. The app is called "iViNi BMWhat" (http://www.ivini-apps.com/).
You have one more left? Can send payment tomorrow.

T, I'm still enjoying my PASoft device. I do have a question.
Above, you say "To DISABLE the clutch switch:
-select "Coding data"
-select "Settings and manufacture settings"
-select Manual transmission
note* only for manuals
note** this allows you to start the car without having to depress the clutch"
but the picture shows the box for Automatic Gearbox selected. Is it possible to disable the clutch switch on a MT car with PASoft? If so, what is the correct setting?

Disable the clutch switch by checking off automatic gearbox. Just like that of the tutorial. My car is set up like that so people can just turn on my car and I don't have to worry about stalling or anything.

That's weird I'm pretty sure virtual box should work for any version of Windows 7. You may have to buy a legal copy of XP to run through something like VirtualBox or VMware since you have home premium.

It'll work with Windows 7. You might have to enable Virtualization in the system BIOS to be able to run Virtual Machines.

Alright so I have some good news and some bad news.
Good news is, I got my scanner in earlier today (10/20)
Bad news, I plugged it into my car to go in to do the clutch-less start and followed the instructions. That didn't work and it threw some error code. So I got out of everything to restart it and it wouldn't load up again, so I just thought whatever I'll try tomorrow. Then, I noticed my lights were starting to glitch and I tried to start my car. Nothing.
When I turn the key, it makes a really weird sound and doesn't even crank. Neither of my keys work.
Do I have to get it towed to a dealer? or can I resolve this issue?
Thanks in advance!

UPDATE:
Last night when I was coding, I left my lights on for a while and it ended up draining my battery. I spoke to Tony this morning and he walked me through troubleshooting the car and now its running perfect. It seems like the battery is a bit drained due to age so I'll need to replace that.
As for the software itself, I couldn't be happier. Thanks again Tony!

I am sure that's the case but there is a difference between getting it to work by running VMs etc and advertising as " works with windows 7 " which led me to believe it would work without any extra work.
At this price point though, even buying an old used laptop with XP is worth it if the scanner part is solid and works well, like many have described.

I dealt with a few different vendors until I found one that has been providing consistent and working scanners. I haven't really got anyone having an issue with this new vendor. Prior to this I would actually do the mods myself and sell it however finding the correct vendors really do help in making it as easy as possible to you all. Also being able to provide tech support is the other key factor.
To answer the question regarding what you can code and not code please refer to the first page. It should have pretty much everything on it. Again don't forget to thank Terra as well. With his research a lot was possible.
As BP would say this is a must need for anyone with an e46. Really beats a generic scanner.

Yep - after some consideration I have decided NOT to mess with trying to get my main Win 7 laptop (ThinkPad T520) to work and fiddle with VM and all that. (I like this main laptop way too much to risk), and just get an old Win XP laptop from Ebay or amazon. That way, the set up should be straightforward.
If I get a laptop set up with XP and is proven to work well, I would also be willing to let Mafia members borrow it, too.
I did find this on E46f on how to get Win 7 to work, but just reading it and some people getting BSODs with this trick just doesn't sound comforting.

No problem. Yes, the laptop I used had Windows 7, and have coded stuff successfully (except for trying to change the service interval, it didn't like that). Since it sounds like you're trying to run it on Windows XP I'm sure Tony has a way to get it to work there as well. Probably pretty similar.

I think there are instructions. The CD contains the drivers for the device. Usually 2 ways, either install the drivers then connect the device, or some connect the device, then the system ask for the drivers, and you then point to the CD directory with them. I think this install is the latter. Tony was great with tech support, so I'm sure when he's available he'll help out.

I think you probably have to " point " the device manager when it's asking to locate the drivers - I would not let it search for drivers automatically but when you connect the dongle choose the manual option from the pop up box and point it manually to that folder so the program can find them and let it install from there

I took my laptop and PA Soft over to my friends house, he is an IT guy and even he couldn't get this to work. I thought this was a simple plug and play deal? I'm beyond frustrated at this point.
This looks like a pretty standard driver installation, so I'll see if I can watch the video and help out.
Most important thing when dealing with drivers that don't auto-install is to remember to unzip them to somewhere you can find them.
Create a folder called 'BMW scanner drivers' on your desktop.
Unzip contents of scan software to the folder 'BMW scanner drivers'
Right click on Computer (or My Computer) go to 'Manage'.
Select 'Device Manager'
Expand 'Other Devices'
Right Click BMW Scanner
Select 'Update Driver'
Select 'Browse my computer for driver software'
'Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer'
'Show all devices' > Next
Select 'have disk'
Browse to Desktop > 'BMW scanner drivers' > 'BMW Scanner 140 Tony'
Select driver folder
- if on Win 7, select 'Drivers - Windows 7'
- if on XP, select 'Drivers - Windows XP'
Select ... ??? 'ftdvbus.inf' ? Press 'OK'
Select 'USB Serial Converter A' > Next > Yes
"Windows has successfully updated your driver software"
Open file explorer by clicking on folder icon, Windows Explorer, whatever.
Browse to 'BMW Scanner 140 Tony'
Go into BMWScan140 folder
Double-click 'BMWScan140.exe'
Let me know if that doesn't work and I will install it myself and let you know what's missing. Good luck.

Thanks Jay. I will try that some other day when I'm not so frustrated. Working out in my 100 degree garage makes it difficult.
When I had the cable plugged into the laptop and OBII port with the ignition in position 2 I had the "Green" light for drivers installed and the "Yellow" light for BMW scanner adapter not plugged in.
Hmmm OK then I would say you don't need to redo the drivers steps.
A lot of times emulators require those to be installed and used on a specific USB port, have you tried a second USB?
A lot of people seem to have issues with setup so I'm curious if I will hit those as well. Maybe I'll get to it before my trip. I'll update.

Plug it into the car and try it with the car at position two.
I tried that. I tried several different ways of plugging in.

I had a similar issue trying to get the head to communicate. I fixed by doing a wipe and reload on the laptop. I'm sure that's something you don't want to hear... In my case there was something left over from a previous install... Who knows what but that's Microsoft for you. The only course of action left for me was wipe/reload

My friend that's a computer guy did that after I couldn't get it to work the first time. I'm now running 64 Bit Windows 7 Professional.
Found a good video using PA Soft 1.4

I had trouble earlier, but just plugged it in, turned on the car, and started the software and that worked. What is your issue?

This looks like a pretty standard driver installation, so I'll see if I can watch the video and help out.
Most important thing when dealing with drivers that don't auto-install is to remember to unzip them to somewhere you can find them.
Create a folder called 'BMW scanner drivers' on your desktop.
Unzip contents of scan software to the folder 'BMW scanner drivers'
Right click on Computer (or My Computer) go to 'Manage'.
Select 'Device Manager'
Expand 'Other Devices'
Right Click BMW Scanner
Select 'Update Driver'
Select 'Browse my computer for driver software'
'Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer'
'Show all devices' > Next
Select 'have disk'
Browse to Desktop > 'BMW scanner drivers' > 'BMW Scanner 140 Tony'
Select driver folder
- if on Win 7, select 'Drivers - Windows 7'
- if on XP, select 'Drivers - Windows XP'
Select ... ??? 'ftdvbus.inf' ? Press 'OK'
Select 'USB Serial Converter A' > Next > Yes
"Windows has successfully updated your driver software"
Open file explorer by clicking on folder icon, Windows Explorer, whatever.
Browse to 'BMW Scanner 140 Tony'
Go into BMWScan140 folder
Double-click 'BMWScan140.exe'
Let me know if that doesn't work and I will install it myself and let you know what's missing. Good luck.
Thanks Jay for the detailed info, I finally got it to work! I had to uninstall Pa Soft and all the drivers and reload it using these steps. Man was this frustrating!
Well I am in IT, soooo... ;)

Anyone (looking in BP's direction) know if this will work on an E90? I also have a K+D CAN cable which I believe is for INPA I guess.
Thanks for the help.

This won't work for a e90. You would need version 2.1 for e90. Also the inpa cable use different drivers and settings. Lots of info on bimmerpost.

Two quick questions:
1. Under ZKE5 and "Locking condition," Does Terminal R mean the doors never automatically lock at any speed?
2. Is there a way to code finish the windshield wiper so it finishes it's cycle after the ignition is turned off i.e. I turn off the ignition but the wipers are midway up the windshield, but they'll go ahead and finish the cycle?
Thanks in advance!
