Yeah that is a nice one and with full alcantara interior, my fav! Thank you for the heads up Tampa330i! I'll contact the seller, hopefully maintenance is up to spec (hoping for at least one of these three: cooling system, VANOs, or suspension/bushings) and I might be making a trip to Tampa this weekend :rockon
Ok guys I texted the Tampa ZHP owner and it turns out its actually a dealer, even though the ad looks like a private seller. And he doesn't have any maintenance records or history for the car since it was a trade in. So I asked if he was willing to have the car taken for a PPI and he said sure, and told me of a local BMW dealership.
Ok so I need the Mafia's help and experience for going about conducting this long distance PPI and purchase. What are my next steps? I figure I contact the BMW dealership first and setup the appointment and find out the costs. But also when do I negotiate the pricing with the dealer that has the car? And whats to prevent him from selling it to someone who walks onto his lot right after the PPI that I spent money on while I'm still in Miami? Thanks
I hate it when a dealer does that. Contact one of these shops and see what they charge and what they look for. In my experience it's about $100 for a once-over with drive, code reading, and visual inspection. I'm sure they will go deeper if you pay (compression test, etc).
You need to put down a refundable deposit pending PPI (credit card would be best so you can dispute it if needed).
Bump still on the hunt
How about this

That's a nice one, come on big Russia , call in sick tomorrow, and start heading to Jacksonville ;)
Also just found this one, in Orlando area so much closer...but has 211k miles on it

What do you guys think? Im kinda wary of engine health/power, no matter how good it was maintained or driven an engine with 200k miles is not going to run as strong as a similar maintained engine with 100k miles
Contact the seller for that Imola and focus on that car IMO
Ok got a email back from him, actually gave me a nice informative response definitely an enthusiast and previous BMW was a E36 M. Car has had come maintenance done including DISA fix and control arms but still on original cooling system, shocks/springs and assuming VANOs original too. I can paste his email reply for you guys to read if you want. Either way its looking good so far.
Yeah, please paste his answer here.
Seconded, that's a nice looking car and a reasonable price (assuming quality of course).Quote:
and focus on that car IMO
Here's his email reply:
"Yes car is still available as far as records I haven't kept much of that. I could probably try and pull some invoices off the internet of the parts I have bought most of which were either bought from pelican parts or ecstuning. The car was under aftermarket warranty since I bought the car so when things popped up i took it to tom bush to fix them (if it was covered under warranty). I have not done anything to the cooling system since I have owned it. Suspension wise control arms were replaced around 48k miles. Since I've owned it the following was fixed at dealer under aftermarket warranty. All window regulators and valve cover gasket and control arms when I first bought it. I have done the followong myself with either OE parts or high quality aftermarket. Rear brakes pads and rotors, oxygen sensor, DISA valve, PCV system, upper lower intake boots spark plugs and most recently a new Bosch alternator. Always used OEM BMW oil or BMW approved oil. This is the second BMW I have owned. First E36m3. Both have been great cars. I'm a vw guy and have 4 cars right now. So I'm trying to down size. Let me know if you have any question or want to come see it. Its not perfect but its nice and low mileage."
Let me know what you guys think. Also is anyone here in the area that can possibly check the car out for me? Thanks
Bump what you guys think? I'm trying to get the guy to get through with a PPI problem is hes not driving the car at the moment and doesn't have a tag. Is anyone in the area that can check it out for me? Ive had couple ZHPs slip from me because I took too long to snatch them, feel that may happen again with this one.
Bump...this is getting extremely discouraging, I'll probably start looking for E46 M3s if i don't find a ZHP within the month.
There seem to be plenty of potential cars posted here, e46f, AT, cars.com, etc.
For real. You have the whole SE to pick from and can get the car home within a day.
im still searchnig with a 17k budget already bought a 92 318is gonna just v8 swap it and save my $ lol dam fl shit cars
Thanks Joop!
I go to school in Orlando but I live in South FL, so I'm down for the summer. Not sure if you got my PM or not but I sent you a PM on 6/25 saying that I will be in Broward for a couple weeks along with the maintenance records you requested.
If you haven't seen it, check it out but as I stated I'm not sure if I want to get rid of it but I will for the right price. Let me know.
Heres the updated ad btw:

Go national.... You will have a car in a week.
You started looking before me and I bought my ZHP over memorial day weekend.

Yeah agree completely. Nobody will tell you guys what to do, its just frustrating to see someone pass up on PLENTY of great cars because they insist on finding something local, and then trash talking the local people that do have great cars... I am pretty sure all of the good ZHPs in South Florida originated elsewhere...
