What happened to Peter and the compressed spring?
I spent the last week or two getting mine running. I bought it wrecked and it seemed to need most of the front end replaced. I removed the rad support and the entire cooling system. It had 118K miles, so I figure I might as well replace it with new components. I basically bought everything mishimoto makes and installed it. I couldn't figure out how to make their fan shroud work with the factory wiring. I suppose you just have to splice the wires before the factory control box, but then I read that it's prone to failure so I just put the factory fan back in, and I'll figure out the mishimoto fan later.
Anyways, I finally got the cooling system put back together, filled, and bled. I let it sit for a half hour or 45 min and it stayed cool and didn't leak, so high five! It just needs the rad support and all the plastic stuff that bolts to it now.
I'm trying to figure out if I want to spend $250 on a junk yard hood or trick my wife into thinking a carbon fiber hood is a necessity. What's the consensus on that? I figure I might as well upgrade while I'm at it, but I don't know if it's a worthwhile upgrade or not.
I also discovered that the mishimoto parts fit really well if you install them correctly. The lower rad hose doesn't fit AT ALL if it's in backwards. the temp sensor sticks into the fan, the rad sits at a slant, etc. It's a real mess.
My vote goes to a junk yard hood. Great progress so far. :thumbsup
Brother got his new drivers side window in from Gerber collisions, $125, not Plinkton but not bad at all https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...088ef61fe3.jpg

Glad he got it fixed. He should consider a $5 rattle can to refresh that lower grille.
I used Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Semi-Gloss Protective Enamel spray paint for mine and it's held up pretty darn well over the last 22 months.
