CRC makes a specific MAF cleaner. Try that, 15 squirts and your done...

Dumb question......how much or where exactly can this be applied in the engine bay? Has the e.b need to be super clean? Removing of dust or any petroleum spill a requirement?

All plastic, and all painted and bare metal, and all hoses (I've used it on everything). I spray it on, and wipe it off. Leaves everything very clean. I usually blow out the engine bay with compressed air first though.
