Dinner was nice as well. We all had Mexican food for dinner at a nice restaurant where I got to enjoy a few Patron Margaritas...

Looks super straight, and again, one of the better OE interiors. Funny, those enkeis don’t say BBS on them.......
Just joshin’ around. But BBS should be put on everything, I knew you’d slap some on this cherry
That’s the plan Jacob [emoji1417]

Careful with gold LM's on a blue car. That's where babies come from.
Looks great Charlie!
Go for the KW v2. We really liked them on the 135.

Nice lighting shots! [emoji106]
As my 5 yr olds would say... you're on an adventure :)
This has been a memorable and exhausting trip but to me it was well worth making the effort to buy this rare gem! I have not made a cross country trip (east coast to west coast) since 2003 so it has been a long time. Botond had expressed his desire to help me bring my car and also told me that it was a bucket list item for him to make a long distance road trip of this nature. I can say it was an adventure that I will look back on and laugh at some things ("69" comes to mind...), share in disappointment with others but hope there will be another opportunity for another road trip in the future... Botond and I did the complete trip in 3 legs.
The first leg was from Sacramento, CA to Las Vegas to Gary's home. Even though it was only one day... it was nice to spend some time with someone I got to know thru this form and have become very good friends with. I always look forward to spending time with Gary and his awesome family.
The second leg started from Las Vegas and I took Botond to the Hoover Dam so he could check out how big this dam was and the work that went into building this marvel of technology... then we headed off to Arizona to Meteor Crater. I could not believe that it was 40 degrees outside and I have to admit that both Botond and I looked silly wearing shorts and T-shirts while at the site when everyone else were wearing warmer clothing...anyway after checking out Meteor Crater Botond and I headed off to Armillo, TX where we decided to get a hotel room and stay for the evening due to intense strong storms that we have encountered in Arizona/New Mexico/and Texas. I have seen hard niagra falls rain but never experienced a storm so intense that it spanned across a few states... The lightening storm created was so intense that it streaked all across the sky...
The last leg started on Monday and ended tonight when I got home. Botond and I decided to drive straight home to save time. Unfortunately truck drivers had a different agenda and at times it was challenging to get around them as they occasionally blocked traffic on the highway... must be a game they like to play to mess with people driving sports cars... There were a few dump trucks on the road as well and as you could imagine from my Porsche mishap, I was extra cautious when approaching them... to a point I'm sure Botond thought I was a Royal Pain in the Ass... anyway we managed to get past them and get my newly acquired Audi home.
I was going to take the Audi out and get her washed but I'm so damned tired I decided to grab a much needed shower and go to sleep. I know I won't need anything to help me sleep tonight... I'm completely exhausted from the trip. Botond is driving home right now as I am typing this and I hope he will be okay for his trip home. He assured me that he will be but I know he's just as tired as I am...
My silver Audi S4 Avant now has a sister in the stable in a Nogaro Blue color ;) Yes, I need to update my sig pics...
Awesome recap. Glad all made it home safe

Looks like a good trip except for the weather. Thanks for letting us know!

Awesome adventure guys!
I know what you mean about the trucks! You get one that’s governed at 65mph passing one that’s doing 63 mph... ten miles later, he finally passes the slower truck. Very frustrating!
That's was a proper road trip! Glad to hear that B5 is made it safe to your home.
Which car are you going to drive in the winter?

You slept in your car last night, don’t lie. Woke up with one side of his face looking like a smurf
Thanks John and Guy! Weather showed me just how good it was to be driving a Quattro and the lightening show was amazing to watch :thumbsup
Dealing with trucks or dump trucks was taxing on patience... stress build up but when we were thru, the stress immediately dropped and I could enjoy the trip again... seems like there are a lot more trucks on the roads these days...
I know just how much you would like to be the one to enjoy all the smurf themes that my new Audi has Jacob... admit you're jealous! :p I did sleep in my car yesterday... ;)
Coming from a guy who used to own a VW harlequin (Chagall base), I’d def have fun modifying that wagon
Jacob, I now have two 2001.5 S4 Avants in my collection. The Silver S4 Avant is getting modded inside and out...the Blue S4 Avant will be modded to OEM+
Both my Avants will be getting new pedals as well from Rennline
These going into my “Smurf sex cave” 6MT Avant

Doing the timing belt/water pump service on my Audi this weekend since the previous owner did not remember when the last service was performed. Car has 166k on her so there are a few things I need to address to keep this rare Nogaro in tip top shape...
Breaking down

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...5f8a66fb4a.jpg
Front end off and draining coolant
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...bed99de92b.jpg
AC cooler set aside for maintenance
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...0f68f3b41f.jpg
Found out the last timing belt/water pump service was done at 119k.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...ad361e327b.jpg
Well, since I was already into this I decided to change everything out and zero the clock so to speak. It was also a good learning experience for me getting to know what is required for Audi maintenance...
All interference removed to expose the conti timing belt... note my Nogaro already has the metal thermostat housing!
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...6746c3643d.jpg
Cam lock tool, a necessary tool for setting your cam when replacing the timing belt...
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...1f9880e4a5.jpg
Old timing belt removed...
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...aeeec0a3a7.jpg
Here are a few pictures of the old Conti timing belt. Not a single stress crack could be found. Belt easily had about another 40k miles of life left in her but I won’t be reusing this so off to the trash for this part...
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...ff88370dde.jpg
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...087fcfce50.jpg
Installed the new water pump and started cleaning the front part of the motor.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...c8fe4007e4.jpg
With the new Gates Racing timing belt installed my friend and I are installing the tensioner pulley.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...2630a154c3.jpg
Turned out the passenger exhaust cam was off by a tooth so we had to take off the belt and redo this step...
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...1c8428100c.jpg
This part is a pain but getting everything perfect has to be done here...
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...add65b4d35.jpg
My friend and I ended up doing this 3X before it was finally done...

All part of maintenance.... you can say that the car is now mine... there will be more done to my Nogaro Audi over the next few months...

Timing belts...I do NOT miss those things. Necessary evil though. Good work.
I heard water pump and timing belt was a complete front end tear down...
You’re right. For the Audi this is a necessary evil but has to be done every 100,000 miles. I can live with that! [emoji41]
It is Rob but it is really not too hard to break down the front end of the B5 Audi. Just time consuming, that’s all. Perfect time to do this is over a three day weekend [emoji1417]
