Detail--- from work truck to show ready...

I was bored and figured I would post up a thread on the detail I did. This isnt with my ZHP, or any BMWs, but with our work truck, figured I'd change it up a bit. A 2004 GMC 2500HD Extended Cab. It has a 5 speed manual and is pretty base, only options are plow prep package and dual climate control. It has an insanely powerful 6.0L V8 with 300hp and 300tq and with the 5 speed, it is very very very torquey at low end...also, yeah it gets like 9-10mpg As far as mods, it has true dual Magnaflow exhaust, sounds incredible with the 5 speed, tint, stepbars, a spray in bedliner and an 8' Stainless Fisher X-plow...like I said, work truck...

Having 4 BMWs, an Audi and a VW in the driveway, aside from mechanics, the GMC barely gets any attention. It gets used pretty hard, especially in the winter. It is washed every once in a while and waxed once a year, if that. Well it was that time of year.

So I went to it, performing the following:

-Exterior wash and strip of old waxes
    -Clay bar
-Removed swirls/buff (the good thing with not washing a car is there are less swirls, as most swirls come from poor washing habits)
    -Wax
    -Polish/touchup step bars
    -Polish grimey muffler tips
    -Scrubbed all wheels wells/greased parts
    -Scrubbed clean bedliner
    -Windows in and out
-Vacuum/Watered down floor (being the Base truck it came with rubber floors to allow hosing down of the floor, very cool in a truck)
    -clean all interior
    -Full engine detail

    Products used:
    Mequiars clay bar kit
    Meguiars swirl remover
    Griots Best of Show Wax
    Griots Wheel Well cleaner
    Meguiars Interior Detailer
    Porter Cable 7424
    Steel wool pads
    A BUNCH of microfiber towels

I get bored with the ZHP sometimes because there is nothing to clean, haha I am on top of it. So I really like working on cars that need major attention, it makes it fun to see the final result

Couldn't agree with you more. All of my expensive detailing products need to be truly tested on friends and family vehicles that don't get the frequently detailed treatment. So enjoyable to watch the transformation. Great job on the work truck!!
